  1. Which school / program are you attending now?
  2. hi, i tought u had posted the web link for the admissions blog, anyway, just in case for the others here to read who maybe havent seen it http://wwsadmissionsblog.com/
  3. do u know which program ur going to attend?
  4. US News just published their new rankings, if anyone is interested (this one's for public affairs) http://grad-schools.usnews.rankingsandreviews.com/best-graduate-schools/top-public-affairs-schools/public-affairs-rankings
  5. my best guess is that mason comes through tomorrow, and the rest mc-mpa / mpa-id / mpa2 follow monday and tuesday..
  6. hey guys, lets keep it cool; ok fair enough, revolution is bashing at PP/IR programs, but soapwater ur personally attacking him by saying "he's not good enough"; how do u know that; i havent seen him personally attack or offend ppl; he just complains about schools and not ppl, which is a freedom of speech; i can understand though that, as a PP/IR hopeful, u dont want someone talking negatively about a school that u may attend soon, which is psychological; but stand above it, revolution wont be the first or last dude to challenge u on going to PP/IR school, i speak from experience..
  7. only 30-45min left til clos of business; is hks still gonna release any decisions today? :-/
  8. reason for sipa's relatively poor job placement is that columbia has 2 top rated grad schools right next door, business and law; its tough to shine in the shadows of such competition
  9. man, i dont know what world u live in, but putting sais or sfs ahead of hks or wws, thats idealistic at best..
  10. take my advice, do NOT commit to a program that ur not fully convinced about. u will detest the time u spend there, the money u pay, and the ppl u study with. its not worth the time u invest and the opportunity cost u forfeit. sure, u learn a lot and meet nice ppl, but u dont hv to necessarily go to grad school to achieve that. follow ur heart, do no listen to what others want u to do, or what is socially expected from u. bcs ur gonna be the one studying for those exams and writing those dreadful papers. u better enjoy it if u wanna make sth out of it.
  11. Hey guys, stop bashing @ Revolution, the poor guy is just trying to get into the schools same way we do. Ok, he may have had some mixed experiences surrounding the appl. process, but give the guy a chance to air his frustrations here, its a forum. Everyone has dreams, incl. me !!
  12. just wondering, how much is the deposit? does the admit day sound exciting (special guests and so on)? am sure there is already some eager admits trying to setup a flat share and all that
  13. congratulations, you got in !! hehe i wonder what kind of info do they have in the new admit tab? and they said that there is sth like a forum or board for admits, is that right?
  14. @ admits: can you already see the "new admit" tab in sparks? just curious.. in the past it was reported that it either showed before admissions decisons were sent out or way after admissions decisions were sent out. wondering if they fixed that
  15. Do you mind sharing your background/stats with us?
  16. Just came from dinner, thought they won't send anything today. Checked email, got DINGED !! Good luck to the rest.
  17. Just read on the admitted/rejected page that admissions will tell you that decisions are still being "processed", but reality is that admits are sent out first, then rejects. That could be the indicated time lag "in the next 2 weeks" in the blog. http://www.thegradcafe.com/survey/index.php?q=harvard&t=a&o=&p=1
  18. Because they are related to Jim Bumpus, and as such considered legacy, and legacy gets always in at Ivys. http://www.linkedin.com/pub/james-bumpus/26/a4/b00
  19. I would not say "harassed". Look at other major PP schools. They either set a date or have already released decisions. Sipa for instance had a late App. DL. of 5-Feb and will be releasing decisions from 18-Mar on. That's a mere 6 weeks processing time. Now explain to me why Hks needs almost 4 months and can't even specify a release date? To me that's not harassment, but exposing incompetence.
  20. This admitted MPP student posted his stats last year. LinkedIn profile for more info: http://www.linkedin.com/in/gautamkamath HKS Public Policy, Masters (F12) Accepted via E-mail on 13 Mar 2012 I 27 Mar 2012 What are the odds for financial aid? Anyone? MBA grad from National Taiwan University, with undergrad in Maastricht University in Law and Public Policy. Worked for 2 years in NGO/UN internships, 2 years as a banker...strong corporate and NGO rec....average GMAT (690)..but unique international profile
  21. Admitted students posted it here on the forum. It was not the norm, but did occur in some cases.
  22. If anyone logs into their Sparks account and sees the New Admit tab, can you please let us know. In the past years it sometimes appeared prior to the admissions decision being sent out.
  23. Just called the admissions office. Decisions have been made as of today. Now decisions are being updated in the system and will be communicated by email (not Sparks) to us by Friday. They said they notify per program, not all at once (MPP, MPA2, etc). So not sure when who will get notified first or last..
  24. After reading the comparatively more negative than positive things about HKS, I am pretty sure that I won't attend unless I get substantial funding. It simply doesn't seem to be worth the time and money invested. Public policy school is probably more of a scam than what I thought from before.
