Anyone heard from wait-listed schools yet?

MakinChoices, do you mind telling what offers you declined to give us some hope? -
Really pulling for you, Matrixgirl09!!!

Happybow, I am a current UTD undergrad as well in the Speech Pathology Program. Maybe we've met?

Hi, KristaLeigh89! I am currently an undergrad in the UTD SPAU program. I'm on the wait list for the grad program here. Is there any way we can trade info and maybe email or talk sometime? I would love to ask about all of the different classes you took in the COMD program and your thoughts on them. Perhaps we can PM each other and trade contact info? Thank you so much for offering advice to folks, mentors are hard to find.

Hope to see you too. I'll keep ya'll up to date on this board as I wait out the wait list. If I make it in, you'll see me there. I'll be the short one. -
Congrats on choosing an awesome Texas school! Oh my gosh-that means SLP Steph might get your Vandy spot from the waitlist and I might get her UT Dallas spot!

True, when I sent my first email there had been no communication to me yet. I did not know that writing him with my question would have a positive effect on my application, it was just luck. I'm glad I wrote. Just to clarify, I did not ask about my status when I wrote, so I don't want to advise how direct your question should be. I asked about who I could submit rec letters from if I worked in the field and reapplied next year (implying that I knew I might end up with a rejection.) I must admit that I was a little paranoid that I might not have submitted my file properly and that it had never been seen. I knew they would tell me if that were true when answering my email about rec letters. Hope this helps! -

I'm a little over 30 miles northeast of Callier Dallas myself. If we get in, we can look at the logistics of carpooling if you want. Good luck to both of us! -

Hey, Tex_Hart, I feel the same way about reapplying in Spring (it may come to that) because there would be fewer apps to compete with, ya know? As far as the waitlist goes, I may be #1 or #15, so I'm not letting myself get excited. I am glad it sounds like hey're not letting you off the hook yet-we never know and so many folks are applying all over the country. A ton of people might choose schools elsewhere that cost less/are closer to their home, etc. I am in the field, by the way and am currently going to UTD for my undergrad. Where are you going right now? (And yes, I only applied to UTD) -

I am so excited for SLPSteph and Katieliz456! Now I will be biting my nails-If the Vandy spot opens because Katie lets it go, Steph could go to Vandy and then I could get accepted to UT Dallas off the wait list! I feel queasy. -

By the way, katieliz456, now that you're waitlisted, sending an email to the department head of BU (just one brief email) reiterating your readiness to take a position that opens and your continued interest in BU is supposed to put you in a positive light among waiting list candidates (if you haven't done that already). My dept. head said the reason I was given a shot at the wait list was b/c of qualifications and because I had recently expressed interest in the program (referring to an email I sent early last week clarifying recommendation letters needed if one reapplied in a future semester and my desire to reapply to UTD/work as an SLPA for a short bit if I'm not admitted this time.) So, sending that initial email made me stand out just enough to snag a spot on the wait list and after being waitlisted, I sent one last email showing gratitude that entrance was still a possibility and stating that I would be available if a position opened or reapply at the first chance if not. Hope this helps! -

Say, I like where your head is at! I bet we all hear back by the middle of the month or so. Let's keep each other posted here as we progress. Good luck, ladies! -

Thanks for the realistic view, it really does help. I will keep my fingers crossed that the person you know declines UTD soon and that we both get good news. -
Brilliant idea! And no, you are NOT alone! As the semester winds down, I will sort through and share some good notes if you want them.

Congrats on your offers from Oklahoma and UT Dallas! I am on a waiting list made of 15 people for UT Dallas. I live in the area and take care of my dad in my home, so applying out of state isn't an option. If you decide not to attend, please let UT Dallas know as soon as you can-and I really hope you get in at Vandy! -
Just found out Friday that I'm on a waiting list of 15 at UT Dallas because of my qualifications and because I recently indicated an interest in admission to the program (I sent an email a few days earlier asking a grad program requirement-type question.) There is no deadline for acceptance for the folks who got offers, although they're asked to let them know as soon as they decide. I replied to the department head's email to let him know I will be waiting whenever there's an opening and that I'm glad there's still a chance for me. As far as I know, I may be walking across the stage to get my bachelor's in mid-May and still might not know. At least there's hope, though. If I don't get it, I will work as an assistant in my field (speech pathology) and reapply at the next opportunity.
