Hey, I loved it!! I learned a lot about the program and the area. I went apartment hunting while I was there as well. I think etsu will be my choice! I was really impressed with all of the medical setting opportunities they have for students. All in all, I really liked it:) -

It's a hard choice! I'm a fan of a pro and con list, but my brain still has trouble picking ha ha -
So, on the slp wcu website it says that 2nd round has been made. Does anyone know about third round?

Living Arrangements in SLP Grad School

So I just realized I hit the wrong button where people can see what you select when I set up the poll. Sorry! -
Hey everyone! Can't believe it is April already. I'm planning ahead for where I want to live in August. I have been searching and crunching numbers; however, I would like so advice on what some past experiences from other students have went through with living arrangements. How much is too much to use student loans on for an apartment per month? What about roommates? I never moved out of my parents house during undergrad, I saved money this way! On the other hand, this leaves me as a rookie on living stuff. Any suggestions would be awesome! : Thanks!!

Thank you! I actually met someone from WCU this weekend, she said the word on the street was tomorrow!

I did USU right now. I took 3 classes last summer, 4 in spring, and 4 this this spring. I took a year off from teaching and just subbed and did volunteer work, BUT I will say, I think it is very doable bc the work is always there for when you get the time. If you stay organized and don't put things off you should be fine! Good luck! -
Does anyone know about second round? How many will be sent out and when? This is my Number one choice!! I have a deadline approaching and don't want to give up on this one. ( I thought thy were supposed to be sent out late this week.

No, I'm actually I'm out of state and out of field.

I just got an email saying I didn't make first round, so if I wished to remain on the wait-list I could . . . .

Thanks SO MUCH! It does! Its good to know that she likes it. I'm from Georgia, so I know the heat pretty well, yuck! Yeah, I'm not sure about the hours bc I thought it was only nine. Do you remember what her apartments were, bc I'm going to about 5 or so for tour this Friday to scope out what is there. That would be awesome for walking distance -

Congrats on your acceptance! I understand about your decision . . . I was offered a tuition scholarship, so its kind of hard to ignore the $. I can't wait to understand more about what might be doing as my "job," as it requires 8 hr a week. Yes, I can't wait to hear more about what you find out! When I make the trip this weekend, which is about 4 hr from my house, I hope to look at some apartments just to get an idea of what's there. I will get all the info I can about a place before I move there for 2 years! -

Thank you for the info! Congrats on your acceptance! Its great to hear a little bit about the "inside scoop." I'm from a VERY small town, with no traffic and no crime. Ha ha. So it will be an adjustment for sure. Thanks again for writing:) -
Hey Everyone! Just reaching out to accepted students at ETSU. Curious why you have chosen/not chosen to accept here and why? What you know about the program and area . . . plus any other information. I will be attending the open house coming up and wanted to see if anyone else might be attending as well. I really want some inside information on this program! Any information would be great!!

Any schools still have open applications?

Alabama A&M . . . I think -
Just wondering if anyone else is having this issue, which I never thought would have. I'm so fortunate to have this problem; however, I was wondering if anyone has been offered acceptance, but still have not heard from other schools? Any suggestions for how to deal with this issue? I have emailed some programs, but either they don't know where I stand or have not finished going through applications. Any advice would be much appreciated!

What's the weekly schedule of a SLP grad student?
Bcjami replied to Bcjami's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
Thanks for the info! I'm glad to hear that you love the program, even with the stress. I don't look forward to the stress, but I know it will be worth it in the end. Good luck to you! -

Thanks for the info! That really helps me get a good idea . . . I was offered a GA position for one year. Is it common for students to be give a position for just a year then perhaps get awarded one for the next year? This will help me select the right school . . . I think. -

I love your novel! I love SPED, especially self-contained. I'm sort of with you on the reason for leaving teaching. I love the teaching part of it, but not the politics, parents, etc. I want a more intimate setting, opportunities for a variety of settings (medical!), plus I still get to work with special needs. Have you chosen the school you will be attending yet? So stressful! -

LOL, well I thought PRE-K one year, so not a lot of grading there, but I'm teaching 4th grade this year and there is a lot more. Something about it I just enjoy, its not stressful and its kind of relaxing. What do you teach? Do you feel like you making the right choice to change careers? -
I think so too! I have heard that some are grading undergrad work, or running the clinic desk, maybe helping professors conduct research, etc. I was offered a GA position for 8 hrs a week for one year, so . . .I also would like to know if you can be chosen for this position again the next year? So many questions!
