Reposting this in the hopes of getting more advice! Need more advice from anyone! So, I didn't get accepted second year of applying to three year programs. I'm going to have to step it up this year! I'm paying on my student loans from my bachelors degree in early childhood and special education...let's just say I have a good bit in loans. I'm a little worried about the next step I need to take to save money, but give me the best chance of getting in next year. I have many choices I can take. One obstacle I have been tackling is how difficult are the classes...pre-req? Can these be handled with a job? With this not known here are some of my options... 1. Move and take pre-req classes on campus at UGA....which is where I would really like to get into grad school for SLP. I think this would help get my name out there and it's a really good program. This is the most expensive option. 2. Take pre-reqs online at Utah state and teach another year. Not sure if I could handle both at the same time. I want to save money, but give myself the best chance next year of getting in. Also, if I volunteer to help my application, how should I log my hours? Is therea special form on ASHA or not? Thanks in advance for any advice!

Rejected from both school yr two. Really depressed. I guess I'm on to plan b. Really trying to figure out if I'm heading down the right path.

I would rather stay in GA, TN, OR NC. But if I apply again I'm going to apply in more places because I will have invested a lot more. Yeah, my GRE is low: 292. My MAT was a 405, I wish more programs liked the MAT. It's so scary bc I already have student loans and thinking about adding more to them for pre-reqs with a chance for getting rejected again is so scary!

I kick myself for not applying to more this year. I don't know what in the world I was thinking. This year was my first year teaching and needles to say its been crazy/challenging and I think I got sidetracked with branching out. I should have, I want this soooo bad.

Still haven't heard from Western and didn't receive an email like others are taking about . . . So I guess I'm at the bottom again year two of trying. I feel to old to wait another year. I'm so depressed and feel so stupid. Maybe I'm not traveling down the right road for me. Maybe trying to get in as a leveler is just not going to happen for me. Can anyone give me advice: I'm about to turn 25 and have one year of teaching exp and do not have any pre reqs. Should I teach again and take online pre reqs OR take pre reqs on campus as a Post bacc student? This school is is the top 40 and could increase my chances next yr. THOUGHTS??

Email, mail, fax? Email, mail, fax?

How did you send your LOIC's to your schools?

It's so painful! Let me know if they give any info! Good luck

Has anyone heard from WCU about second round? I can't wait any longer it's killing me! I just wish I knew bad or good. Should I call or email or wait even longer?
-
I'm sorry to hear that, something else will work out for you! May I ask you how you found out? This is my second year applying as well and very nervous! Good luck to you!

So is Western Carolina sending rejections out? Has anyone heard anything yet since the first round?
-
I totally agree, I have not heard anything since Thursday's email. This happened last year when I applied and finally after April 15, I got an email saying I was rejected. So, I have kinda give up hope. I wish I knew something more.

Just wanted to put this out there, I keep having to telling myself this to: a test like the GRE cannot judge the full intellect of someone. Becoming an SLP requires more than just being to take a standardized test well, it's motivation, dedication, passion, and a love for the field. I have a low GRE score, but I'm not going to give up. I will not let the GRE make me give up on this field. Maybe it's not my time this year, but one day it will be with or without the GRE. Good luck to everyone and if your facing rejections, keep your chin up! You are smart and you can do it!

Yes I agree. It's this sentence I really want to know about: " Those applicants with a status of "Complete and Ready for Review" are still in consideration for second round admission and an eventual waitlist." Wondering if people were rejected or not.
-
Do you all of the students that were not accepted first round got this email? Or do you think the email was limited down and sent to select students? Ahhhh, it's going to be so hard to wait another month not knowing where I stand.
-
Thank you! That gives me some hope:) the little that I have left anyway ha ha

If you received the email from Western today about the April 16th wait, does this mean we are wait listed or were just still in the running and could be rejected later?
-
Thank you so much for what you wrote. This means so much to me personally!
-
Thank you! Congrats on your acceptances! that's amazing
