  1. Ohhhhh my gosh, I'm going to be on edge now. It's MY TOP SCHOOL. I love the school sooooo much! Its so hard waiting!
  2. Hey, not sure if you have had your interview yet, but my interview was pretty short so I didn't ask too many questions; however I did ask: What qualities do you look for in a first year slp grad student? What professors are interested in (your focus?) What research topic the school was most interested in pursuing in the future? Hope this helps! Good luck
  3. Ha, I have no idea . . . thanks for letting me know tho!
  4. Hey! May I ask how you found put about U Georgia and when?
  5. Hi Everyone! Just wondering if anyone else has applied to the University of Montevallo and if you have had the interview yet?
  6. I love this! Dream: Get accepted to Western Carolina University of University of Georgia, because I love the schools so much and I love the area/program! Hope: Get accepted to at least one school!! Guess: If I had to make a guess, I might get into a school that I don't really want to live near
  7. As much as I want to say the whole package counts so much, I think the GRE scores have SO MUCH TO DO WITH ACCEPTANCE. This is my 3rd year applying, not saying I know all there is know about how to get a spot, but I have applied to a lot of schools in the past and talked to a lot of committee people. They always say: "you are a strong applicant and meet our requirements, but the problem is we have a lot of applicants like this." In a nutshell, the ones that have the highest GRE scores, usually get the spots. My GRE is mediocre: 148, 147, 3.5. ( I have taken the GRE 4 times) The GRE is not my friend, I have done the best I can do, spent a lot of money preparation, and I'm DONE. So, I'm hoping the I have at least shown the schools I have applied, I tried to get as high as I could.
  8. I'm applying there as well. I have had no luck getting contact with anybody there. I just kind of gave up, I'm not sure if they have even received all of my stuff or not. I can't seem to check it online, soooo MAYBE I'm out of luck too. Sometimes they will accept your recommendations without the letter. If you can get in contact with them, maybe they will let you send them late.
  9. Hey, I applied there as well. Mine says the same thing, I could be wrong, but I think it just means that they have received everything and your application has been turned over to the Department.
  10. Autismadvovate, I agree! I have had some rejections . . . I have emailed the schools, called the schools, talked to department chair, but they just kind of get the normal suggestions. It would be so nice to get some kind of information that was individualized.
  11. I'm applying to a lot of southern schools. You can see the ones I'm applying to in my signature below.
  12. Umm, I think it coast around $800 per class (3 credits). I'm taking online chemistry, since I didn't take it in my undergrad. I emailed and ask many of my grad schools if they accept the credits from USU. Most said it shouldn't be a problem. I will see if I get into any grad schools this may. If they are not accepted, I will be soooooo mad, bc I took a whole yr off from teaching and spent around $10,000 for all these classes.
  13. This is my 3rd semester taking online classes at USU and I think they offer great classes. Phonetics was an interesting class since it was my first class in the speech world. I made an A in this class, however, I have found that online classes are not for me. I felt this to be especially true for phonetics. It was hard to ask questions about a symbol and how it sounds ONLINE. Other than that it was okay. Anatomy was great! I'm taking Audiology right now and it's okay so far too. All in all, USU offers great classes. Hope this was somewhat helpful
  14. I have applied to several schools this go around and wanted some advice about how to prepare for interview . . . if one were to arise! Any ideas or knowledge about this topic would be much appreciated! 1. What to wear 2. Common questions to be ready for 3. Things to bring 4. Should I ask questions (even though I will know most about the program from research) 5. Things to do/not to do 6. Any suggestions?
  15. Whew, just getting on grad cafe makes me nervous, especially when people starting adding their acceptances and rejections. This is my third year applying, so I'm on edge all the time. Thinking of plan B is so depressing. I guess the only thing that comforts me is knowing that all of my applications are 100% done and everything has been received. Plus, this year compared to my other two app seasons . . I have all of the pre-reqs completed or in progress, I really have tried my best to boost my application with things that I can control----boo GRE!! Which prob won't mean much. Anyways good to everyone's anxiety, hope you find some peace and comfort!
  16. I know, its so hard status checking and your stuff is not showing up. I would double check with the grad office too if your deadline is approaching soon. 5 of the grad schools I sent transcripts to with the "electronic system" didn't receive the transcript, so I had to go and send them the old fashioned way. I would just double check it!
  17. Yes, I would recommend this route too! I really liked the program!
  18. Hey! I understand your frustration. I'm a horrible test-taker so take my suggestions with a grain of salt . . . I have taken the GRE 4 times over a course of 3 years. I have had tutors, spend tons of money on books, spent many many months studying each time------> my score did NOT change hardly at all. BUT this is me, I wouldn't want to discourage you in anyway, but I do feel that this is one of those test where you know it or you don't ya know. I would focus on things you can control. The GRE has made my self-esteem and self-worth decrease, I have felt soooo dumb ever since. I'm trying to not feel that way, so I'm focusing on things I can change. I wish you luck in your applications!!
  19. Ha Ha, thanks! I was denied last year from all of the schools I applied, so I had to go extreme this year. It was a lot of work getting them all done. Good luck to you:)
  20. Whew, just finished all of my 14 applications! Let the long long wait begin:/ Hoping for the best!!
  21. Hey smarty pants, I'm applying to over 14 schools and I'm getting my packets ready now. Whew, it's work to keep them all straight . . . Inside each packet I'm am putting resume, SOP, in addition to all the forms and pre-addressed stuff. I'm not sure if I answered your question. Good luck!
  22. Thanks very much! Yes I'm going to apply to a lot! I do need to look into places that do not require it, it's just going to take more effort on my part because all of those schools are far far away. I'm doing great in my pre-req's, all A's so far:) Do you think doing more observations will help at all? I already have 25 clinical hours for grad prep along with some other observations. I have 2 months that I can, I just want to focus on things that I can do that will actually help.
  23. Hello Everyone! I'm getting so depressed before the application season has officially began. This will be the third year I have applied. I feel so dumb. The first two years I was teaching and did not have any background in speech. This year I took off from teaching and dedicated myself to taking pre-req classes. It just seems as though I hit a bump in the road everywhere I turn. Oh, this class won't count for this, you don't have enough hours for that, your GRE is not competitive enough, etc. I want this so bad, I just don't know what else I can do. I think the GRE is what is holding me back the most. I made a 293 on the new GRE and 940 on the old. I have taken it 3 times so far and I'm taking it again in November. I have studied and studied. McGoosh, private long-term tutors. I just don't know, maybe this isn't for me. I have been volunteering doing pet therapy with special needs kids every week for 2.5 hours along with many speech observations. Does anyone have any advice for me? I only have November and December left, is there anything else I can do? Thanks in advance:) Brittany
  24. Having a bit of a heart attack tonight! I just signed up for two classe at Utah State University online and bought the books which wer $350 and the tuition was $1800. I thought I was all set and then tonight I'm looking at asha EdFind and see that Utah masters is ASHA accred. But don't say anything about distance education. Do you think this matters? I'm totally freaking out. I know longwood is for sure but there tuition is three times more expensive. I just want to give up right now. This is so stressful. I didn't get in to anything this yer again and now this.
