  1. i promised to myself i wouldn't check gradcafe so often this early in the game, but i can't help myself....
  2. hahah that's ridiculous! I'm sure that's a system error though, and they should be able to "waive" it for you. The fact that they have to manually waive the TOEFL req for you is so silly though.
  3. ah ok. yeah i think you did the right thing. i doubt they'll pull you out of the pool right away though for a missing test score since that could be contributed to many factors, not just the applicant's oversight. hope you hear back from them soon!
  4. i just spotted the first admit posting on the result page! it's from UCSD. not sure when their apps were due, but thats a really fast turnaround, no?
  5. i have the same issue, but on my status page it also says to allow the admissions office 3-4 weeks after the deadline to fully update the status info. The likelihood is that they received your score but are still in the process of matching the scores with the applications they received. im not sure what the deadline was for your app, but i wouldnt freak out over it. maybe check in with them later this month?
  6. Try Evernote if you haven't yet. it helps me organize my notes and docs. Kindle app is good since you can send to it long articles you dont want to read right away. and the dictionary app was very useful when i was studying for the GRE...
  7. i was going through last year's results, and it seems like the first responses started coming in mid-January, but the bulk of the results were posted at the end of Jan through the whole month of Feb. I think we should expect at least 2-3 more solid weeks of silence. eeeks!
  8. thanks for starting this thread! i thought about starting one earlier today but thought maybe it was premature. it's totally not! the waiting game is just too much.
  9. i can't believe somebody has an interview scheduled already! care to share which school? totally fair if you don't want to talk about it until after the interview
  10. i filed away all my application material in a folder and hid it. what's done is done and i cant even imagine reading my apps again! it'd make me cringe.
  11. my 2 cents as somebody who went straight to law school from college but is now prepping for grad school after a few years of working: id say try the graduate school route now...you can apply to law school any time whereas it'd be harder to build a grad school application later in life when you've been out of school for years. For law school admission, you don't need to build a writing sample or anything substantial like that. letters of rec matter less to law schools. You just need a good GPA and a good LSAT score to get into a good school. If you try grad school now and decide that that's not what you want, it wouldn't be too hard to turn around and make your way to law school. the other way around (law school first, grad school later) is much harder in my opinion.
  12. definitely approach. I don't think that's weird at all. I've met one of my POIs recently in her office, and that was the best thing I did in this application cycle. Even if the meet will be brief, at least when he reviews the application materials, he'll already have heard of your name. that can't hurt.
  13. i did hear that. when i talked to Yale about a month ago, they haven't hired a replacement yet and don't have plans to in time for the 2014-15 term.
  14. worth pointing out that Pam Lee at Stanford is not taking any students this year (for 2014-15 term)...
