  1. Hello Everyone, Does anyone have recommendations for schools that offer a Spring semester Graduate SLP program!?!? Thanks!!!
  2. I've been advised to look into programs that are just starting out, since they generally tend to be more flexible with whome they accept. Does anyone know of schools that have newly developed SLP Graduate programs... perferably in the South East, but I'm open to anywhere honestly.
  3. I founf that NOVA has a SLP program... and I wanted to find out if anyone had any personal experience information about the program. I'm usually very cautious about programs that aren't from a traditional university and have a predominantly online program focus, as does NOVA. I don't know if they are accreditted and if degrees from this institution are respected. I also don't know the cost and if it is rediculously more expensive because of the convienence it offers. If anyone could shed some light on this I would GREATLY appreciate it. Thanks in advance... and happy Monday.
  4. Hey there, Okay so I officially was denied from 6 schools and was absolutely heartbroken at first, but am better now. I have a new game plan,... I decided I needed a year of experience... this would make all the difference. I'm facing one problem... I can't find anywhere that is actively looking for a Speech Language Pathology Assistant. I have started the application process for all the local school boards... except what I have found is they want SLP's so I don't even know if they will look at my application. I'm desperate to get out of the area I'm working now and get into my desired field. I'd spoken to professors, tried networking, and applying daily to as many schools as possible... yet I'm feelling like nothing is going to come from this. Does anyone have any words of wisdom. Am I doing something wrong, is there someone I can contact? With as much guidance as I've sought out I still feel lost. P.S. I've looked into getting SLP-A certified, but you have to actively be in the field and have mentor to be able to do that.
  5. :( I hope the weekend helps.

Thank you. I've been able to gather my composure... only took me 7 days. :) This process is definitely tough.

  6. Yes I am in the USF-SM program. I actually worked full time at USF the past two year so I could get this degree, I've been so thrilled to get to the next step. So to find myself here has been challenging to deal with. You have all provided amazing advice. I'm going to look into the Licensing tonight. I really want to try my hardest to find a SLPA job so at the very least I can be getting experience. My GPA is good but not competitive, due to my first degree. My GRE are something I can easily focus on ... and given the extra time I'll definitely devote it to perfecting it. I didn't even think of calling before applying. I did go to the ASHA conference in hopes of meeting with some of the schools. I was able to meet with a few, but not many of the ones I wanted to apply to were there when I arrived, which was disappointing considering it was one of the main reasons I went. Thank you all. Right now I'm grieving a bit... and perhaps this is a bit early to be boo joo-ing, but from everything I've read and understood I'm thinking I know how this will end. Honestly this constant rejection is worse than a breakup... I just want to stay home from work with a tub of ice cream, but I'm not. Time to start doing some research.
  7. Hello fellow applicants, So I'm in a second degree program, getting my BS in Communication Science Disorders this May. I have at this point received 3 rejection letters of the 6 schools I applied to. I'm starting to freak out and think I may not get in anywhere. Everyone keeps telling me to calm down and just wait... but every time I get to a point of calm, it seems like another rejection letter rolls in. Does anyone have advice as to what I should do to get my foot in the door should graduate school not work out. For example how should I or could I get a position as a speech language pathologist aid? Thank you for any words of wisdom and calm you can offer. :/
