  1. Hopefully that's an Eastern Europe thing since one of the other groups has an orientation in early June... I might go insane if I see an e-mail from IIE without an answer!
  2. Was that just an Eastern Europe thing? I know I never got anything like that...
  3. Me too! Part of me thinks they'll call the country and tell them not to select you because you e-mailed them. I know they probably wouldn't, but you never know... haha
  4. I dare a Central America/Caribbean applicant to try and get an update on when they think we will hear! Central America & the Caribbean Ashley Prather 212-984-5366 aprather@iie.org

  6. Feels like the calm before the storm...who's it gonna be?! Will today be Norway's big day? Anybody in Eastern Europe feeling it? Perhaps some Asian countries will pull through... And the dark horse answers from Latin America? I hope to see the board going crazy with acceptance e-mails when I check this afternoon... Rooting for everybody today!
  7. Well, guess we'll all see each other here again on Monday!
  8. Had to take a class called The American Musical: A Social and Political Document. This is from "A Chorus Line." Based on the lyrics, it's highly probable they were applying for the Fulbright and not a chorus position... Anybody else relate here? (start at 50 seconds: ) [ALL] God, I hope I get it. I hope I get it. How many people does he need? [bOYS] How many people does he need? [GIRLS] God, I hope I get it. [ALL] I hope I get it. How many boys, how many girls? [GIRLS] How many boys, how many...? [ALL] Look at all the people! At all the people. How many people does he need? How many boys, how many girls? How many people does he...? [TRICIA] I really need this job. Please God, I need this job. I've got to get this job. [ALL] God, I really blew it! I really blew it! How could I do a thing like that? [bOYS] How could I do a thing like... [ALL] Now I'll never make it! I'll never make it! He doesn't like the way I look. He doesn't like the way I dance. He doesn't like the way I... [ALL] GOD, I think I've got it. I think I've got it. I knew he liked me all the time. Still it isn't over. [MAGGIE] What's coming next? [ALL] It isn't over. [MIKE] What happens now? [ALL] I can't imagine what he wants. [GIRLS] I can't imagine what he... [ALL] God, I hope I get it! I hope I get it. I've come this far, but even so It could be yes, it could be no, How many people does he...? I really need this job. [A FEW VOICES] My unemployment is gone. [ALL] Please, God, I need this job. [A FEW VOICES] I knew I had it from the start. [ALL] I've got to get this show. [PAUL] Who am I anyway? Am I my resume? That is a picture of a person I don't know. What does he want from me? What should I try to be? So many faces all around, and here we go. I need this job, oh God, I need this show.
  9. We sent in our apps six months ago. My country had seven applicants apply for two spots. Does it really take that long to make a decision?!
  10. I e-mailed my Fulbright adviser today. Wondering if Fulbright has told them something that they haven't told us...
  11. You pretty much just made my day... lolol
  12. I do what I can when I don't want to study! watch our for a Lion King or Mulan version soon if they don't hurry it up
  13. E-mails will come out.... tomorrow... bet your bottom dollar that tomorrow, there'll be some... just thinking about...tomorrow Makes me refesh my inbox and have sorrow... cuz there's none When I'm stuck with a day that's gray and lonely I just stick out my chin and grin and say E-mails will come out.... tomorrow So you got to hang on till tomorrow, come what may... Tomorrow, tomorrow, Please Fulbright, tomorrow! You're always a day away...
  14. I managed to find some recent ETA blogs and spent the past hour reading them...amazing! Hope to be blessed to experience what they did
  15. Slowly but surely this forum is turning into the Eastern European and developing countries forum... Germany and UK have virtually disappeared (except for there'sanappforthat, who is faithful to encourage us in our suffering!) The nice thought: we ought to know within 35 days!
  16. It stinks that we won't hear for awhile, but it's nice to not be stressing every day about it. Definitely makes focusing in school easier for a bit! Though it does make it difficult to make life plans... to seek full-time employment or not seek full-time employment... THAT is the question (besides Fulbright of course!)
  17. bvosler, on 03 Apr 2013 - 11:38, said: "So, I took the plunge and emailed Ashley Prather, the Caribbean and Central America coordinator, to see if she knew about a notification date for us. This was her response: "Unfortunately, I do not. Last year these came in mid-May, with the budget situation this year it could be later. I am actively working to prevent that this year; however, typically this region is one of the last to announce the awards due to the regional funding structure. Don’t worry and keep waiting – no news is good news!" Looks like plenty of waiting for us Stupid sequester!"
  18. Central America and the Caribbean will probably be waiting until mid-May (somebody got in contact with the director of the region, and that's what the director said). What country did you apply for? ETA or Full grant? I'm hoping for an ETA to Panama
  19. Felicitaciones!!!
  20. Thanks for sympathizing with us! At least one positive is that Caribbean/Central America knows not to expect to hear until May probably. Less day-to-day stress, but more overall stress in not knowing what direction our lives are heading!
  21. SHHHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOTTTTTTTTTTTTTT
  22. Ok Caribbean/Central America... who's brave enough to try and get more information? Central America & the Caribbean Ashley Prather 212-984-5366 aprather@iie.org
  23. Amen we are! They didn't find out until May 9th last year... I swear, if Fulbright makes us wait until the middle of finals to let us know...Help us out Fulbright! We have to make real-world decisions!!!
  24. Forum is going to get crazy as we hear from the German applicants... congrats to all that got it!!!
  25. out of curiosity, did any of the Latin America ETA's acceptance letter include orientation dates, or have those not been announced yet? The recommendation e-mail said either late June or July, but no specific details beyond that.
