Same here! I grew up in the corn fields of Western Illinois, and we had scares every spring. It never stops being terrifying. So glad your family is safe!

This whole week has been awful for me. I have drafts due for a section of my thesis today. Yesterday I fell into the toilet at work. Last night I got a splinter in my foot from my own floor. Plus, I look fat in EVERYTHING. And I haven't heard from Fulbright!!!!

Congrats to the Latvians! And I hope more funding opens up for the alternates. At this point, I think ANYthing is possible. What a weird year!

That would KILL me. I'd like to give my job at least SOME notice, ya know? I know they said by the end of May at the latest, but I am hoping that it's earlier than that. It's officially mid-May right now, so I'm hoping for next week.

No, I doubt that. Maybe they are working on stuff behind the scenes for you that they aren't ready to communicate. If they had enough faith in you and your project to offer to host you for a year and endorse you to Fulbright, then they definitely see value in you. It's easy to assume the worst (I do it every day!!) but our thoughts aren't real. I am still hoping you get bumped up!

It's funny how a place can do that to you! I visited Montreal a few years back and just felt so at home—like it was my destiny to be there. I don't have plans to settle there any time soon, but I would love to end up back there eventually!
