  1. That sounds awesome! I have never been to Estonia, but all of your Estonia love has made me curious. I googled it the other day and it looks beautiful!!
  2. We have seen a lot of alternates get bumped on on this forum! It seems recently like more funding has opened up in different areas, so alternates are benefiting from that. Good luck!!
  3. Congratulations!!!
  4. Deadline for what? Are they required to announce before a certain date?
  5. Congratulations!!!
  6. I think an exit survey is a great idea. Same with the continuing ed. I am still hopeful that you will get bumped up from alternate! I think it's still a really good possibility!
  7. Yeah and I'm worried that I will wait until the end of May only to be rejected. I keep telling myself that the wait is worth it, but what if it isn't? What if I put everything on hold and it doesn't even work out? Even being named an alternate and having to wait even longer sounds awful at this point.
  8. I haven't been ignoring you; I just don't have any answers. I am STILL waiting to find out if I even got it, so I don't know about the next steps. Do you have an advisor or someone who might know more?
  9. Oh cool! Two Swiss applicants in Chicago! Where are you? I'm getting my MA at Northwestern, but I live in the Ravenswood neighborhood.
  10. Lol! I bet they still talk about that. Like, they are just sitting around: "Hey, remember when we met that girl who wears her uncle's underwear???"
  11. THAT. IS. AWESOME!!!!!!!
  12. Yeah I haven't decided how I will handle that, yet, if I get it. Europe is definitely more veggie friendly than the Dominican will be. But I also want to experience local food and culture. I don't even know what they eat in Switzerland! Just chocolate and cheese?!
  13. My favorite German food is spatzel! Oh, and bienenstich...yum!! Edit: I just googled "Kinder Happy Hippos"—amazing!
  14. Yes! Chicago Diner is vegan and it is excellent!!! I have only been to Berkeley once and did not know about Top Dog. I guess I will have to go back! I've heard there is a place in Chicago with a veggie corndog, but I haven't tried that either. Definitely on my to-do list!
  15. I'm the same way, too! I went on a European backpacking trip a couple years ago. I thought I would lose weight because I was constantly walking with a giant backpack. Nope! I actually ended up busting out of a pair of jeans! They literally ripped at my thigh. Too many cones of french fries with mayo and chocolate croissants. Well worth it though I'm vegetarian, so I've never tried the Italian beef anywhere, but there are a few places with veggies dogs that I am CRAZY about.
  16. I love this idea! Hell, you guys can even couch surf at my place if you want to visit Chicago
  17. Yeah we were talking about that morning. We'll definitely want bikes if we move over there because we won't have a car, and it will be easier to get around. But we'll probably just end up buying bikes there. We don't want to take too much. That is IF I get it. Because I still don't know. STILL. DON'T. KNOW.
  18. When I applied, I never thought I would still be waiting in May. Never in a million years. I'm surprised that I haven't ripped all my hair out yet. This wait effects even the smallest of decisions. Like, this morning, my fiance was talking about wanting to buy a new bike. But then, "If we go to Switzerland, then I won't be able to take it." ARGH! I hate being in limbo.
  19. I second that. What country are you waiting for?
  20. I applied for creative writing too! I was wondering if there were any other fine arts people on here. I'm still waiting to hear back from Switzerland, though. So no clue if I'll actually get to pursue my project. At this point, I think anyone still waiting should automatically be accepted. You know, as a reward for our patience.
  21. I was thinking the same thing. Maybe more applicants are getting Norway'd.
  22. Switzerland
  23. Congrats to everyone who got good news this morning! Sounds like there was a flood today already. Big {{{{{hugs!!!}}}}} to the alternates and NS's. I know something better will come along for you!
  24. Gosh, this has been a rough couple of days. I'm so sorry to hear the news. They are obviously missing out.
  25. But you have already been accepted, right? I would not think they could just retract your acceptance after the fact. Anyway, I don't really know the answer to this, but I assume most (all?) counseling is pretty confidential. I doubt they would ever find out if you fudged it a little.
