  1. Hey everyone! I've been MIA for a while, with work etc. Congrats again to those who have been accepted into the MSW programs for this coming year. For those accepted into the Advanced Standing (1 Year) MSW at U of Toronto, here is the name of the Facebook group and the link attached to join! Share with anyone you know who will be attending, as we can connect Thanks guys! University of Toronto MSW Advanced Standing 2014 https://www.facebook.com/groups/484045911697180/
  2. If you're referring to the Advanced Standing I have one started. Here's the link (Or if anyone else going into the Advanced Standing at U of T is reading this page you're welcome to join!! ) https://www.facebook.com/groups/484045911697180/
  3. I found my first semester (in the summer) to be pretty intensive as it was 2 weeks per class which counted as a full credit, but it was nice to have done one credit at a time. The fall semester was also pretty intensive as I was taking 7 classes a week. I did manage to work part-time though and have somewhat of a life outside of school, so it is possible, just have to be very focussed and organized. This semester I am currently in, although I am only in 3 classes and placement 4 days per week, seems more difficult as placement was thrown into the mix of it all. It wasn't necessarily the workload itself that wasn't manageable it's just bouncing back and forth between various responsibilities, so again it takes a lot of discipline. I also am working quite a bit, so I think if you were to just be involved in school and placement it wouldn't be that much work at all. I can only speak for myself but it definitely flew by due to such a busy schedule. In all it was manageable and placement is what I have enjoyed the most, by far.
  4. No I won't be able to as I'm in Thunder Bay. I'm doing the mental health and health stream as well, it seems to be popular but that is really the field I want to be in and am currently doing my placement in.
  5. That's what I thought you meant but wasn't exactly sure. Our class also has a group for the HBSW however only myself and one other person will be attending Toronto. Excited to meet everyone I'm doing the mental health specialization, which one are you doing?
  6. Sadly I won't be attending the April orientation as it conflicts with placement, and I am all the way up in Thunder Bay I can't fly down for one day! LOL. Anyone else can feel free to pass the info along about the group. As for you smpalesh I was unaware you had a group going, as I proposed to start one everyone is more than welcome to join the one I created .
  7. https://www.facebook.com/groups/484045911697180/ I've copied and pasted the link hopefully that works. I changed settings to open group so hopefully it's easier to find!
  8. The Facebook group for the MSW Advanced Standing U of T has been created . The name of the group is University of Toronto MSW Advanced Standing 2014. Feel free to join and share with others everybody !
  9. Yes I would love to! I haven't yet but I will do that tonight. Just not sure how to go about adding people or having people find the group. My experience last year was that I emailed the school and let them know there was a group to join if students were interested. Not sure if Toronto would be receptive to that. I will post the name of the group on here once I've created it though Also, can you explain to me how I can put what school I was accepted to underneath in my signature since you and so many others have? I can't seem to find it on the account settings. HELP!
  10. That's just tuition alone sadly. Books and cost of living is more. Around $500 per month if living off campus in a student home, $700-$900 for your own apartment roughly, and more to live on campus. I think it's just $150 for the deposit.
  11. There is no difference between programs. I am currently finishing up my HBSW at Thunder Bay campus and while I was admitted here, I was rejected at Orillia. It's my experience that they will take those who qualify for admission and who ONLY applied to one campus over those who applied to both. So someone who applied to Orillia only may be accepted over someone with same credentials, as they chose both schools and so will have two choices. Cost of living here is about 20% more than southern Ontario I would say. Tuition ends up being about 13, 000 for the year with no funding. The program itself is good, especially if you don't get into a masters, then at least you aren't wasting a year and having to reapply for the two year MSW the following year.
  12. Would anyone who has been accepted into U of T be interested in me creating a Facebook group for us all to connect with one another on there, and throughout the academic year? I did it for my BSW classmates and we all found it very helpful in resource sharing, collaborating and exchanging info etc.
  13. Are these courses offered through distance (online) or on campus? I wouldn't be able to take any anyway if they are offered on campus because I won't be finished my practicum here in Thunder Bay until first week of June.
  14. Just got my acceptance package in the mail today from U of T! So excited! It mentions that we could choose to start in the summer if we wanted…wonder what day that would be, although I think I've had enough of school and would love to have my summer off one more time. Congrats to everyone else, and for those who didn't get in there's still hope!
  15. Could anyone who has already received their acceptance package for U of T tell me a little bit about what's included in it? I am still waiting for mine, but am curious as to if they have included any info on scholarships?
  16. Also, congrats to everyone else who got in! Two year MSW for U of T isn't notified until April.
  17. OMG!!! I just logged on and it says the same thing! I really hope this is real! Degree Master of Social Work (1yr) (SW MSW 1) Status Invited Full-time or Part-time Full Time Session in which you entered program Fall 2014 Year of Study 1
  18. Same here, it said it wasn't available at that time. Hopefully it works soon! I want to know! Thanks for the info
  19. I found my student number and then it says for first time users to create a pin which would be my birthday but it isn't working
  20. Ok I need to figure out how to do this! You didn't previously go to U of T too did you? Or is this specifically for previous U of T students?
  21. My plan B is to just work for a year or two, as I already have a B.A. in Child and Youth Studies as well as my BSW come this spring, so hoping to land a job somewhere in the social work field, even if I have to start out in child welfare at CAS. I'm looking at it optimistically saying I could work for a year and gain experience and money, or finish school. But I really would love to get into U of T and finish school forever! I've signed myself up for every single workout class this week to take my mind off of this seemingly endless wait...
  22. I have a huge knot in my stomach right now knowing our fate will be known within the next few days! I am way up in Thunder Bay so I am not sure how long mail will take to reach me… I know sending things down to Niagara from here has taken as long as a week and a half My status also says Under Review and I really hope that doesn't mean they are deciding whether to put us on the wait list…Ah fingers crossed for all of us!
  23. I look too, I know last year my status changed before I got a letter, but some others had already gotten letters before their status online changed. I keep checking and I just want to know! I really hope we find out this coming week if you say some people heard by March 6th or 7th.
  24. This whole waiting game is so intense! I am sure everyone feels the same as me and just wants to find out either way if they got in or not so they can move on with their lives! U of T is sending out their decisions by mid-march and that wait is killing me! I can't imagine what people feel like having to wait until April!
