  1. I have been accepted too! I am thinking of starting a facebook group for all those who were accepted to chat and maybe get some resources. Were you accepted to the Orillia or Thunder Bay Campus? I was accepted to Thunder Bay! Congrats!
  2. Congrats to everyone who got into their programs! I am happy to say I was accepted into the HBSW at Lakehead and at least it's something; then I will only have to do a 1 year MSW next year, so same amount of time just broken up differently. I am on the waiting list for U of T so am still hoping a spot comes available and I can take it To any of you on this forum who are currently in the HBSW or were formerly (at Thunder Bay) how did you like it? I am very nervous about moving 16 hours away for school for a year and would love to know any more info I can (besides what I found on Lakehead's website). Also nervous about trying to find a place to live and room mates as I live so far away! Another question would be where did you do your placements for the program while there? I have found a couple of potential placements already (CAS, Children's Centre Thunder Bay, Thunder Bay Counselling Centre) and would love feedback on any of those places for placement opportunities and how well they would work with someone completing their BSW. Thanks guys, and I wish everyone else the best of luck who hasn't heard back yet!
  3. I just got my letter from U of T! I have been waitlisted so I am really crossing my fingers! Does anyone know how many people are waitlisted usually and how many off the wait list actually get in? This suspense is killing me! I am also hopin that since I have been waitlisted for U of T, whose requirements are higher than the HBSW at Lakehead, that I hopefully got in at Lakehead!
  4. Congrats to everyone who made it into U of T! I live in the Niagara Falls area, so I am hoping I get my letter in the mail tomorrow, either way! This wait is killing me. Thanks to everyone who saw my post regarding my application to HBSW and thinks I stand a chance at getting in. At this point, either program is better than nothing and I too am waiting anxiously to hear something back. For all of those who applied to the HBSW program either Orillia or Thunder Bay, start checking your emails. They sent an email out this afternoon saying all decisions have been made and will appear shortly in your inbox, accompanied with an official letter. There were 500 applicants this year, and only 60 are accepted at Orillia Campus and only 25 at Thunder Bay. Not great odds but I am hoping and praying. I have never wanted anything so badly in my entire life! Good luck to all of you!
  5. That is a little encouraging to hear, that some of your class mates had no experience prior to applying. I am applying with 3 years part-time experience working with children with behavioural disorders, as well as a BIg Sister, and respite worker. Crossing my fingers. My marks are in the A- to A range and I have strong references so I am really hoping I get in. I am assuming that both Orillia and Thunder Bay accept roughly the same amount of students?
  6. I am new to this forum and have found a lot of your comments (in general everyone) to be helpful. I am just wondering if anyone has heard back yet from U of T for the 2 year MSW? I already got rejected from Laurier, sadly, as they said the majority of applicants had 3-5 years of full-time work experience. I have about 3 years part-time in a variety of different settings, an average of 80% and have had great references. I am really hoping I get in. I am also surprised to hear about the number of applicants who have applied to the HBSW (1 year) at Lakehead... that was my last hope. If I don't get in anywhere I am contemplating applying to schools in the states for next year, or doing an online MSW.
