A lot of programs hold informal waiting lists and only start notifying people of a) acceptances when an accepted individual (post-interview) does not take the offer, and reject those who did not make the 'x' number of spots on their waitlist. Why do they wait so long to reject people? I have no idea.

From what I understand, Houston will send out acceptances and rejections next month (Mid March) after they have their interview weekend at the end of this month.

To the poster who got an invitation to Grad Student Visit Day at Wright State: do you know if the visit day is just for HF or does it also include I/O applicants?

I'm starting to think they might have an informal waiting list.

I noticed that a couple people posted rejections from USF this week and an interview/weekend invite was posted a few weeks ago. I haven't heard anything from them. Anyone else in the same boat?

Congrats! I think it really just depends on the school. I had one school inform me their weekend was a "very important part of the admissions process" but if you've interviewed over the phone then the potential population of applicants was reduced to only a few students getting invited to the school. Thus, I think a "Visit Day" implies that you're just there to become more familiar with the faculty, the program, and they can learn more about you.

Just to clarify, the invites for the clinical department are separate from the invites for I/O. I was told by a current student that they haven't extended invites yet. Judging based on the results from last year, they won't extend offers until later this week or next week.

You are definitely not too old. I know someone who is in his fifties and currently pursuing a PhD in Linguistics.

Yeah, it looks like George Mason and UCF sent out rejections today. The results section for I/O was pretty brutal today...

It seems like the professors are contacting students at their own pace for George Mason.

Definitely this. I was worried after seeing one of my schools pop up on the results page without hearing anything myself. A week later, I was contacted by my POI at that school for an interview. It's not easy, but you just have to be patient and positive.

I think it's because our deadlines are a little later than the Clinical and Social programs, so we have to wait longer for results (i.e. something to gab about). Although, I will say that waiting is the worst experience ever.
