  1. I was also rejected. I received the email today -- a few minutes after my status changed from 'held' to 'released'. Good luck to those still in the running!
  2. I'm in a similar situation: I also applied for early consideration and my status was 'matched' from December to about 5 days ago, when it changed to 'held'. I have not heard anything from GEM or any GEM employers. From reading previous threads on this site, it seems like they are behind every year. Just hoping for the best.
  3. Yes, I changed my status to "Applicant Self Reported Accepted" for that particular school. Sorry for the confusion.
  4. Hey everyone! I applied for early consideration and my status has been "Matched" since December, but I have not been contacted by any GEM employers. Last week, I got accepted to one of the schools I applied to and updated my GEM profile accordingly. Shortly thereafter, a new field populated in my GEM application status under the 'Graduate Schools' section which asks which school I plan to attend. It states: "In order to complete your application, we need to know which university you intend to matriculate through. At least one university has indicated that you have been accepted and that they are willing to sponsor you. If you choose to go to a university that sponsors you, and an employer agrees to sponsor you, you will become a GEM Fellow." I'm just hoping I get contacted by a GEM employer soon.
  5. I found a sublet for the summer through the room/apartment listings on BU's Off-Campus site. Here's the link: http://www.bu.edu/phpbin/offcampus/search-listings/ The listings are only available to the BU community. I definitely recommend it. As for Fall housing, I most likely won't be able to pair up with you because the person I am subletting from over the summer stated that one of the roommates is leaving in late August and that I will most likely be able to sign a one-year lease in September. I wish you luck on your housing search!
  6. I'm going to be taking Engineering Computation, Electric Circuit Theory, and Intro to Programming at BU this summer. Hope to see in the Fall and during the LEAP orientation!
  7. Congrats! I got in for EE also - looks like we might be classmates in the summer! The B branch of the Green Line (commuter rail) runs through BU and BU also has a shuttle bus. It seems like most people commute via train (not sure how true this is since I don't live there yet - I'm moving to Boston next week). Here's a link to the ECE LEAP Phase I Planning Sheet: http://www.bu.edu/ece/files/2013/10/LEAP-ProgPlanSheet.pdf The Phase I ECE courses listed on the site are the same as the ones listed on the planning sheet. However, on the sheet it explains that you only need to take 8 courses from the list to satisfy the Phase I requirement, with at least 3 courses being ECE courses (as opposed to math or physics courses). You can tailor your curriculum to your interests: EE, CE, or Photonics. Hope that helps! Let me know if you have any more questions.
  8. Thanks so much for the info! I contacted the BU Rental Property Management via email. Hopefully, I'll hear from them soon. I also registered for the courses I want to take in the summer as a non-matriculated student. Hope to meet you when classes start! To Mechanical_Leaper: I received the LEAP scholarship: it covers a quarter of the tuition (around $11,000 per academic year).
  9. Sweet! I'm also planning on taking Electric Circuit Theory, along with Engineering Computation and Intro to Programming this summer. Were you assigned an advisor and have they emailed you the curriculum planning sheets yet? I'm still waiting on those things and won't be able to register for summer courses until that happens. Also, how is your housing search going? Are you getting a summer sublet?
  10. Congrats, leap_2014! I'll be starting Phase I this summer and I'm looking for housing. However, I'm hoping to find a place by May 12, 2014. Is anyone else planning on taking courses in the summer? If you maintain at least a 3.2 GPA in the Phase I courses, you are guaranteed admission to the MEng program (Phase II). You will still need to complete an application for the MEng program, but it will be shorter than the traditional application. If you don't maintain at least a 3.2 GPA, you can still apply for an MEng but you won't be guaranteed admission. You also have the option of applying to an MS or PhD program instead of an MEng. If you do so, you would have to fill out a traditional, full application. I hope that clears things up a bit. I hope to see you in the Fall.
  11. I just got an email saying I was admitted to LEAP for EE! I'm ecstatic!
  12. I haven't heard anything either. I applied for EE on December 19th and would like to take summer courses. I hope I hear back soon.
  13. I also have not hear anything and have been anxiously waiting for a decision. I called the Graduate Admissions Office yesterday (Thursday) around 3:40 p.m. since BU is on Spring Break next week and I was hoping to get a decision before then. I asked the representative when I could I expect a decision and he stated that he could not give me an exact date as there is no deadline. Furthermore, he told me that the review committee was still in the process of reviewing applications and that, once a decision was made, I would be notified via email.
  14. Hey, tramxme. I also applied for Fall admission and am eagerly awaiting a decision. I was told that we definitely need to complete FAFSA if we want to be considered for financial aid. Also, they will determine who gets the LEAP scholarship based on the FAFSA information. To my knowledge, we don't need to complete a CSS profile. Sorry for the double post: my phone was acting up.

  16. I've been reading textbooks and watching lectures on Physics II and Electric Circuits in my spare time. If I get in, I guess I'll just take Electric Circuits in the Summer and Physics II in the Fall. Thank you for the information!
  17. I applied for Electrical Engineering: I want to concentrate in Electronics and take a few Software Engineering courses. I'm interesting in becoming an Embedded Systems Engineer so I can design both the hardware and software for electronics. I've already taken Physics I as well as just about every math course I'll need (Calculus I, II, and III, Differential Equations, Real Analysis I and II, etc) since I was a Math and Politics double-major. I was hoping I could take Engineering Computation, Physics II, and Electric Circuits in the summer However, the schedules for Physics II and Electric Circuits conflict, so I wouldn't be able to take them at the same time. Are the schedules for the summer courses subject to change? Is there a possibility that they will add more lecture sessions? Also, I've heard that Physics II is a co-requisite for Electric Circuits, but I've also heard that Electric Circuits can be taken without Physics II. Which is true? Any clarification anyone can provide on this matter would be very much appreciated.
  18. Hey, guys! Congrats to everyone who got in for the Spring semester. I'm so excited for you guys! I just applied for Fall admission (though I intend to take classes in the summer if I get accepted). I've been following this thread for a little over a year and it has given me so much information about LEAP. I'm so grateful for this forum and I hope I will be able to meet most of you who are in LEAP in the summer.
