  1. INTJ here. I've taken this several times now, and aside from a brief period during which I was INFJ, I've always been INTJ. I was a bit worried about the introversion too, before applying to grad school, but more for how others would perceive me than for my ability to do the job and work with people. I think the typical 1 on 1 nature of SLP works well for introverts, while still working just fine for extroverts too.
  2. Also, I took Russian in college and my Russian professor could tell who the musicians were usually because they tended to sound more like native speakers. She once told me I sounded native and should major in Russian, which was pretty much one of the biggest compliments I've ever been given!
  3. Ooh, ooh! *raises hand* I played flute seriously and dabbled in lots of other instruments, including alto sax in the high school jazz band. I started off college as a music ed major but then eventually settled on linguistics for my bachelors degree. And now, here I am about to start a masters program to be an SLP!
  4. Another Linguistics major weighing in to agree with jesstrom, just in case that helps. Phonology really doesn't give you pertinent phonetics. Good luck finding a course! Maybe USU online?
  5. Thanks! I guess I can hang on for another week or so... (not like I have a choice!)
  6. How long have most of you had to wait between interviewing with a school and getting their acceptance or rejection? I interviewed last week (6 days ago), which I know is not THAT long ago, but the suspense is killing me!
  7. I'm in the same boat with only applying to one school. I had interview with them via Skype yesterday, so now I just wait and see if they admit me or not. :/
  8. Is it possible to do a Skype interview? And re: Wayne State, have you looked back at past years to see if they typically send out all acceptances at the same time? Do they have a typical pattern? That can let you know how likely it is that an acceptance is still coming your way. Good luck!
  9. Wow, Green Dino, I watched the TED talk--that was great!!! It had me tearing up at the end, too. That's such great info for me to have at my disposal, since I feel one of my biggest weaknesses is how shy I am. I'm definitely going to practice some power poses before I make the Skype call tomorrow!
  10. Oh how frustrating!! Yeah, I'm worried my 3 year old son will need something or hurt himself or who knows what, so I'm sending him out on a walk with Daddy so I'll have to the house to myself. One of the most predictable things about kids and pets is their unpredictability, right? I hope it works out ok. Those don't sound like they should be deal breakers, though (right??).
  11. Thanks PorqueMoi--I think I'll do something like that. It'll be so hard not to look at the screen!
  12. Thanks Green Dino! I'll take a look. It'll be nice to have something to do that feels constructive!
  13. I have a Skype interview with the (only!) school I applied to, tomorrow morning. I wish it could be in person because worrying about the technology failing or skipping is making me nervous, not to mention the eye contact issue with Skype. On the other hand, I'm interviewing, which is a really good sign! But still...I can't stop reading the forums and admissions pages looking for signs of others' experiences with this university. I think if I was going to find something, I probably would have found it the first 100 times or so...
  14. I took most of my post-bac classes through USU. Mostly COMD, but I did take a psychology course as well. I thought they were all excellent and I definitely recommend them!
