  1. Thanks y'all! Micro just had their meeting today, so I'm guessing the other programs are meeting soon!
  2. I JUST GOT MY FIRST INTERVIEW! UMaryland Baltimore GPILS Program, Feb 6-7. WITH A SUB-3.0 GPA. It CAN be done!!!!
  3. The northeast has kind of been dealing with a blizzard so...it might take longer. Their answers are consistently cagey though!!
  4. Ouch I got the NYU and Berkeley MCB rejections at the same time
  5. Yeah I haven't seen any micro/immuno invites on there yet >.<
  6. Hey so I called Natasha at BU PiBS. She said the committee is still reviewing apps. As for my application, she marked it "complete" on Dec 11, and it still says "under review." When asked, she said she could not give me an idea of when notifications will go out, but they will go via email. Sorry that's not very helpful!
  7. Hey I have Natasha's number in an email she sent me. I will give her a call and let you know what I find. I submitted my app early november, so this is frustrating!
  8. How do we know the person who *called* isn't a spammer?!
  9. Gah there is a Stanford biosciences interview in the results. I'm waiting anxiously for my rejection
  10. Scripps doesn't notify usually until late Jan, according to prev years
  11. Haha from your username, I presume you're a student at BU. Thanks for the info!!
  12. Hmm sure, but some of us need to secure employment and such if we don't get into grad school, and therefore need to know sooner rather than later. The anxiety is warranted
  13. Natasha. She responded quickly on a previous email. Perhaps I should call.
  14. I hate how a lot of schools won't even reject until March. I want to know so I can make plans and move on with my life!
  15. Does anyone know if all Boston PiBS interviews have gone out?
  16. Probably because they all get over 1000 applications.
  17. You can re-enter the application and click "Test Scores." It'll have your self-reported scores, and if they received your official ones, it will have those listed as well.
  18. For people who got invites to BU PiBS: When did you submit your applications? I did mine early November, but they didnt add my official GRE scores to my app until very recently, so I'm not sure if my app has been reviewed yet.
  19. Hey so I would not apply to MS programs lightly. If your goal is to do research and get a Ph.D., you should not do a masters unless you're using it to figure out what you want to do or if your ugad GPA was really really bad. This advice was from my PI - why would you shell out $100k for a masters just because you didn't get into a Ph.D. program? Makes no sense. If you don't get in to a Ph.D. program, it's much more valuable to get some more lab experience and really make a strong case the next year that you are cut out for research.
  20. I guess we can never know! We're also operating under the assumption that everyone on here is being truthful...
  21. I think it would help if everyone who is obsessively refreshing (including myself) realized a few things: 1. A very, VERY small subset of people who apply to bioscience programs post their stats and results on this thing, and they tend to be people confident enough with their numbers to post. Therefore your sample is skewed and there is no way to know if you'll get in anywhere based on the stats listed. Perspective: Many programs receive 500-1000 apps, and there are a great number of programs out there. So there are at least 10,000 people applying to US grad programs. We're not seeing that many posters within the bioscience results, more like a couple hundred at most every year. 2. It's not all about numbers anyway, they take people they like based on research experiences and fit and that magical x factor. Basically, they accept people who they think they can work with and who will be good at research. 3. Schools do whatever they want when it comes to notifying, and it varies year to year. They email people when they feel like it. I know people who have been admitted months after others heard back from interviews 4. If you submitted an app and haven't heard back in five days, it DOESN'T mean they hate you. People on admissions committees have other jobs and many apps to go through. Don't you want them to take their time reading apps carefully anyway? In summary: Chill. Stop refreshing. Read a book. Watch some tv. Sources: The many Ph.Ds I work with, faculty I have spoken to, grad students, and students who have applied and gotten into grad school.
