I just mailed my official acceptance letter to a PhD program, and rejected the other schools' offers of admission. Aannnddd suddenly consumed with crippling doubt/regret/fear. This is what I wanted. I accepted the best offer I got, with a great funding package. I was lucky to even have a choice between three offers. Yet I still can't shake this feeling that I may have picked the wrong school, or I should have waited to reapply to better schools next year. Is anyone else feeling the same commitment phobia?!
  2. I think reading a little bit everyday is a great way to keep up with a language. I've taken to French museum websites like d'orsay or the louvre, reading descriptions of works. Not only is the vocabulary similar to the stuff I'll be reading in grad school, but it's easy to switch back to English to cross reference or check my translations.
  3. Me! I'm pretty sure I'm going to be living on the College Ave campus in Ford Hall... it's literally steps from my department!

I just submitted an application for on-campus housing at Rutgers... it seems like the unpopular choice, but I'm fresh from Undergrad and pretty un-picky. I really just want to be close to campus and not have to worry about paying for utilities. I ranked Ford Hall first - again, despite the unfavorable things I've heard about the dorm in general. Am I crazy? (I'm not a complete Rutgers neophyte, my mother went there and my boyfriend from high school lived in the Starkey apartments on Cook campus for two years. They're far from gorgeous, but definitely liveable.) Is everyone else definitely living off campus, probably in Highland Park?
  5. The domino effect! I'd really like to accept my funded offer from school A, but I'm still waiting to hear from two schools. Yet I feel terrible knowing that several people are probably waiting to hear about admission and/or funding from school A - info that would likely come after I accept my offer. Ayaiyai!
  6. I emailed the UNC DGS last week, and got a pretty quick response - my application is on a "short waiting list for admission," and he hoped to have more news by the end of March (this week?) or early April. If you still haven't heard from them, definitely send an email! It's getting late!
  7. Deciding between: UVA, Rutgers, staying in NYC to work at my current gallery job/reapplying next year... I'm happy to have a choice at all, but I do feel like I'll have regrets or doubts no matter what I choose.
  8. Anyone else waiting from UVA or UNC? They are my last hopes, based on the assumption that no word from Michigan or Harvard = rejection!
  9. yale acceptances already... sigh. to the harvard "Other via email - rejected." on the results board, did you receive an unsolicited email from harvard, or did you reach out to them for the decision? sorry to be nosey, definitely going a little crazy here.
  10. I hope we get some real news this week, instead of all this horrible guessing and speculation! I wonder, though, if adcoms are cruel enough to send rejections on Valentine's Day...
  11. Ok, the Upenn accept and reject on the same day IS odd... but would they really split up acceptance notifications on different days, accepting some people on the 8th and some at a later date? In other words, is it safe to assume that if I didn't heard from them today, I'm awaiting either a rejection or waitlist?
  12. So according to the Results page, Penn started accepting/waitlisting around this time last year... eeee! I'm nervous! It seems a number of us applied this year, anyone else jumping out of their skin every time they get an email?
  13. I would love to hear about the email interview with Michigan (posted on the Results page today)!
  14. This girl is thoroughly mediocre. Good everything, but straight from undergrad, and definitely nothing special.
  15. Woah woah... this makes me nervous. Is this a PhD or a Masters program? Do all schools have official interview weekends like this? Why haven't I heard anything? AAHHHH
