  1. Are you currently doing a second bachelors at Cal Poly? Are you in state for Cali?
  2. I have an undergrad business degree, and I'm interested in getting into an MS in Computer Science program. Just wondering, how are online undergraduate CS courses viewed by admission committees? Online courses would be more doable for me since I work full time. My other option is to take some classes at my local school, but that can be hard to balance with work. Just to be clear, I'm talking about online courses that are through an accredited universities not a coursera/udacity type course.
  3. Thanks for your reply DeeD. Well I have completed 2 CS courses on Coursera, I don't htink that will count for much though. I worked in financial services for a few years. I'm thinking about taking a Intro to CS at a local college during the fall semester. I would like to get some type of entry level/junior programmer job, but that might be hard without a formal educational background as well.
  4. Santa Clara is right in the heart of the Silicon Valley. Should be better for job prospects. Would you mind sharing your undergraduate major, gpa and GRE? I'm also interested in santa clara.
  5. Hi all, I have an undergrad degree in business. I'm interested in an MS in CS in order to do a career change. I had a few questions about USC's MS program. 1) How hard is it to get in for a non- CS person with no related coursework? GRE/GPA numbers would be helpful 2) What is the value of the degree in terms of job prospects? Thanks
  6. Owego, did you get accepted to an MS program without calc?
  7. Does anyone know if employers care if your CS degree was done on campus or online? I mean something like CS there is little value in doing it in person. It's not like it's an MBA or Law School where soft skills are what's being taught. Edit: Anyone know the employment rate, starting salaries, recruiting stats for online programs?
  8. Hi everyone, I recently graduate from UCLA with a degree in Economics. I'm interested in doing graduate work in Computer Science. I haven't taken a single computer science class. Is it possible for me to get into an MS program for computer science or even a PHD program? I know there are programs such as Carnegie Mellon and Georgia Tech which allow non-CS majors to apply to their MS programs. But do they still expect to see that you took intro to programming or something like that? I have a 3.4 GPA, but my major GPA was very low. My Economics GPA was only about a 2.9. Is a second bachelors a better choice for me?
