  1. I'm assuming they'll notify via email - that's what all my other CSDCAS schools have done (Purdue also called me). I read somewhere that they're planning to send out notices mid March, so hopefully we'll hear something in the next week.
  2. No. Only worry about what school if you're planning on doing medSLP, then try to pick a school that has a medical focus.
  3. Yes! I more or less know where I want to go; however, I still haven't heard back from everyone and none of my schools have said anything about funding yet. I don't want to make a decision until I have all my information. Also, it's hard being able to make all of these visit days (which I feel would help things become more clear). A lot of the visit days are scheduled on the same day. I live about 2-5 hours away from most of my schools, but I don't have a car so that certainly complicates things...
  4. I don't feel comfortable sharing too many personal details on the internet, but I just wanted to pop in and say that it's fun hearing more about all of you...and WOW, I feel like an old, married hag! You're all so young! A preview of things to come in grad school, I suppose.
  5. Me too - and I echo the congrats to everyone accepted. Just realized that Northwestern sent the incorrect sent of transcripts to Vandy. Not sure if that would have made a difference or not. I'm really frustrated with Northwestern - they've screwed up my transcripts THREE TIMES this application season. I forgot to double check the ones sent to Vandy at the time I applied. Oh well, that's my fault.
  6. Glad you found out you are on the waiting list - that's awesome!! Thanks for the kind words. I'm definitely a Midwestern girl through and through...Vandy must have known that about me.
  7. Hmm...I see Vandy sent out acceptances and wait lists last night. I didn't get anything, so I'm assuming I'm rejected. I'm disappointed, but it was pretty unlikely that my husband and I were going to uproot ourselves and move to Tennessee anyway, so I'll just be happy with the awesome acceptances I already have. That is so awesome! Congrats! You're just cleaning house this application season, aren't you?
  8. Hi Nala, I sent you a private message.
  9. If you have questions about courses, I suggest you email Brynne Davies, who is the online advisor for USU. She responds to questions very quickly and is knowledgable about the program. Just a note - this week is USU's spring break, so she might not get back to you as promptly as she normally does.
  10. I don't know if they will necessarily look more favorably on the 2nd Bachelors; however.... 1. Schools often have different requirements for prereqs. For example, three schools you apply to might want Aural Rehab and two schools don't care. Doing the 2nd Bachelors ensures that you cover all your bases and are able to apply to a wide range of schools that have different prereqs. 2. If you have a low undergrad GPA, showing that you can get an excellent GPA in a 2nd Bachelors program will help your chances. 3. Some schools require that you have a degree in Communication Disorders. Hope that helps! I've been doing prereqs at Utah State and have LOVED my experience. It's very well organized and seems to be well known throughout the SLP community as having a good reputation for an online school. ETA: Just saw that you said you're planning to do all the courses anyway. If that's the case, justl do the 2nd Bachelors. It doesn't cost any more $$ than just doing the prereqs. Might as well!
  11. Normally, I would say to go for the less expensive school - HOWEVER, it can be hard to land a medical setting placement for your CF year and going to a school that focuses heavily on MedSLP will increase your chances. I think it might be worth it to do the MedSLP program if you are certain that you absolutely want to focus on the medical side of things.
  12. Congrats, autismadvocate! I knew you would get in!!
  13. Jealous!!! Good luck on your mailbox run! Aww, I'm sorry! Is that your first notice? If so, it stinks that it's a rejection, but you've still got six more schools to hear from!
  14. Oh, you mean Chicago? Seriously though, sending good vibes your way - hoping you hear something good soon!!
  15. This week has felt really slow to me. I've only heard from one school this week (SIUC) and was hoping to hear from more. I just want to know so I can start deciding where I'm going to school!! Sorry, just had to get that off my chest. If you haven't heard back from any school yet, I can't even begin to imagine how you feel!!
  16. Truth. This has been the worst winter EVERRRR.
  17. Congrats! That's wonderful! If you end up deciding to go to Rush, message me. I live about a five minute walk away from there and can give you the scoop. Well, clearly...
  18. I actually went to a Rush preview day with a family member several years ago and there were LOTS of parents there. So I don't think it would be too weird.
  19. I was thinking about this too. I feel really weird wearing "work clothes" (I was a teacher for 5 years) to an open house, but I don't want to be underdressed either. I was thinking I might wear a dress or tunic with leggings and boots, because I figure that can be considered casual or more formal...decisions, decisions!
  20. I'm taking anatomy and phys online through Utah State right now. It's a great course - really well organized and easy to understand. I highly recommend it!
  21. Personally, I wouldn't spend the big bucks, unless you're planning to get a Ph.D. afterward. If you're planning to work as a clinician, a degree from BIG PRESTIGIOUS UNIVERSITY is usually the same as a degree from SMALLER MORE AFFORDABLE UNIVERSITY. A family member went to a really prestigious school for SLP and is now around $100,000 in debt. I mean it's fine, they're managing it, but that really sucks - especially because they were also accepted to a university that was a quarter of the cost. They told me that if they were going to do it again, they'd probably do it over and go to the more affordable school. Loans suck, debt sucks. Remember that you could spend the next 20-30 years of your life paying off a big name school. Just my $0.02.
  22. I didn't get the email either, but I know I got all my documents in... If you do email them, will you let me know what they say?
  23. Thanks!! Isn't so hard to stay focused on classes with all these grad school notices coming in? I keep getting distracted...
  24. Regarding #2, I only had two prereqs completed at the time I applied (ONLY TWO!), and I've already been admitted into two different schools. My prereqs won't be done until the summer either. Try to relax and remember that your stats are amazing and you are a strong candidate! You'll hear some positive news soon.
  25. Congrats, caterpillar!! Doesn't it feel wonderful that you won't have to worry anymore?!
