Congrats!! That is awesome news!
-
Thank you! I'm super excited about it! Congrats to all the MGH acceptances as well! What an exciting day!!

Here is the link, but I think the priority date was March 1st.

I'm not sure about other states, but Illinois has a tuition waiver program for people that are going to go into the "special education" side of things (SLP counts). Basically, your tuition is free at an Illinois public school, as long as you promise to teach in a special education field in Illinois schools for two years after you graduate. I applied, and am hoping to get the tuition waiver.

Whoo hoo! Congrats! That is quite an accomplishment!

I don't think it matters, but I personally wouldn't want to go to a school that places too much emphasis on the GRE. I understand that a lot of schools need to use the GRE as a cut-off point; however, to have a school come out and say that GRE scores predict who will do well in their program, well, that disturbs me a little...

fresh and new to Grad Speech Language Path info seeking
sayjo replied to Kellybel's topic in Speech-Language Pathology Forum
I would say that it's probably NOT realistic for Fall 2014; however, some schools do have an option to start in the spring semester. I'm not sure which schools offer spring semester starts, but I know I have seen some members of this forum talking about spring start schools before. If anyone more knowledgable than me wants to give info, that would be greatly appreciated. Also remember that you will need a GRE, several letters of recommendation, an SOP, etc. Sometimes it takes a while to get all that stuff together. In total (if you count studying and taking the GRE), it took me about eight months to get my application together. -
I'm a little bit ashamed to admit that I watched the entire series in a little over a month last year...

I get that you're disappointed, but I feel it's a bit inappropriate to say, "they take your money and run." Schools are competitive to get into - that's just the nature of the game. Try to stay positive. Hopefully you'll get some good news soon!

Ha!! Love that photo, argslp!

Personally, I think it would be pretty weird for a lot of schools to notify on a Saturday. I bet we'll be seeing a ton of decisions this week though!!
-
I haven't gotten anything yet either. It would be really weird of them to notify on a Saturday night!
-
Vandy next week?? Whoo hoo! I probs won't be able to go there because of all the $$$, but it would be so cool to get in! Can't wait to hear! Good luck, greeneryforests!

Thanks, SLPamy - just checking! lululuna, I got that email too and also the second one about the open house. However, in the acceptance email UIUC stated, "You will also be receiving a SECOND similar official notification from the Graduate College about this offer of admission." I haven't received anything from the Graduate College yet and just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything! I'm also really wanting to hear something about funding. UIUC hasn't said anything about it and all Purdue has said is that they're not able to make funding offers yet. I doubt I'll get any funding, but it would still be nice to know for sure...
-
Has anyone accepted at UIUC received their "official" acceptance yet? I don't think it's anything to worry about, but I definitely haven't heard anything further...
-
Just a note, lululuna - I have a family member that is an SLP in a medical setting (rehabilitation center) and they rarely work with speech sound disorders. They do much more work with swallowing and cognitive-related things. That might be a good way to go as long as you don't mind working with the elderly instead of kids. Not trying to sway you one way or another - just wanted to shed some light on this aspect of the discussion.
-
Congrats to everyone accepted to BU!
-
Thanks, SLPamy! Awww! Keep your chin up. Are your pre-reqs done? That might be something to look into to strengthen your app - because the rest of your stats look AMAZING!
-
Thanks! Hoping you'll hear from your schools soon too!
-
Just got into Purdue!!
-
Thanks for the info! I'm taking pre-req courses this semester and the summer semester, but all will be done by the time Elmhurst starts (since it does not begin until fall). However, when applying, I did anticipate that some schools might discount me because of my pre-req status, which is why I applied to so many schools. I'm assuming this is probably the case with Elmhurst. Oh well!
-
SLPamy and JDGrosman, when did you get your interview invites for Elmhurst? I haven't gotten anything from them yet; however, I haven't finished all my pre-req classes so I wouldn't be surprised if they rejected me.

That is SO awesome! I know you were hoping to get into a bilingual program! CONGRATS!

I had a little bit of a freak out moment today when I saw someone posted an acceptance to Vanderbilt on the results page. Then I noticed they were a Ph.D. applicant. Guess I'll just have to keep waiting! That's the truth! I can't wait to hear where everyone gets into school! I hope we all get into our top choices!
