  1. Thanks! Crossing my fingers for all of you who are waiting for March!
  2. Hi! How is everyone doing? I've decided to attend Macquarie University in Sydney, Australia (w/partial scholarship). I couldn't risk not coming to Australia in Feb so I could wait for US results in March since I'm not even sure I'll get accepted in the 3 schools I've applied to. Anyway, I wish everyone the best of luck! If there's anyone here who might be going to Australia too, feel free to message me!
  3. Hi everyone! Does anyone here know of loan programs available to international students who wish to study in Australia, UK, etc (basically any place other than US). Based on what I've read, most loan programs available to international students are for study in the US only. I would appreciate any information about this. Thanks!
  4. I just received an email from the admissions officer that the result of my application won't come in in 3 to 4 weeks after all like she initially said. According to her, they will wait until after the deadline before the department reviews the applications and the results will come mid-March. Huhu. Guess I'll have to wait longer haha!
  5. Hi all! I've sent in my application to 2/3 programs for Fall 2014. For one school I applied to, the admissions officer told me that it takes 3-4 weeks for the department to make a decision (unlike most schools which send out all decisions in March). I took this very seriously and now that almost 5 weeks have passed since I submitted my application, I'm getting more and more anxious. So I decided to ask the admissions officer from the graduate school if there are any updates on the status of my application. Is this okay? At the same time, I'm just worried that following up on my application may turn them off. I just really want to know the result of this application so I can decide if I will still apply to a third school this November.
  6. I can somewhat relate to you! I have applied to 2 schools for Fall 2014 and have yet to apply for a 3rd school. I'm still waiting for the results though, which would be released early next year I believe. I'm also relying on any sort of funding--whether a scholarship or an assistantship. My plan is to attend even if I don't get any funding for the 1st semester, hoping that I'll have more chances of getting funding thereafter. I know of people who did that as well and they eventually got funding once they were there. I'll take the risk! Tell us how it goes! Best of luck to you!
  7. I say no. I've probably gone through more than 50 websites while doing my research and most schools prefer recommendations from faculty members--basically people who can talk about your academic potential. Good luck!
  8. Rach925: Hi! I'm also applying to UNI for Fall 2014! Actually, I've already sent in my application a few weeks ago. I'm just waiting 3-4 weeks (according to the admissions officer) before I know the result and I sure hope it's positive. If ever we both end up there, I'm glad I already know someone I guess. Please feel free to tell me any unpublished info about the grad program at UNI. Haha.
  9. Yes AuD2018. I have read about Minot State. However, at this point, my school choices are already permanent. I have already sent in my application to 2/3 schools. I guess all I can do now is hope for the best!
  10. AuD2018- No worries. I appreciate any info that I can get and I will definitely message you if I do end up attending UNI. I chose it because of their curriculum and faculty. I also specifically chose schools in smaller cities which tend to be cheaper too based on my research. Those are my reasons among others.
  11. AuD2018 - That's a little scary especially since I'm applying to 3 schools only. I appreciate that info though! I just hope it all works out for me!
  12. Just submitted my second application!!! Have you guys submitted your applications yet?
  13. Thanks, CatSLP716! That's very insightful. Good luck on your thesis! I'm sure you'll do great!
  14. Thanks lexical_gap! That's really something to consider.
  15. Hi CatSLP716, Just to clarify, was it simply your choice to do a thesis even if your praxis scores could already take the place of your comprehensive exam? If yes, what made you decide to do a thesis given that it is a lengthy and stressful process? One of the schools I'm applying to lets you choose between the MA (compre exam) and MS (thesis) option. I guess I'm still trying to convince myself to choose the thesis option because I'm sure it will be a good learning experience for me and in case I want to pursue a PhD eventually.
