  1. I am having a really hard time deciding between Yale MCGB, U. Chicago Dev Bio, and U. Penn DRSB. I am excited about the research at each program, and I would probably like Philly or Chicago over New Haven...but I still am stuck. Any opinions on the programs or their reputation in cell and developmental biology?
  2. I am interviewing at U. Chicago for DRSB January 23rd-25th.
  3. How do you schedule interviews if some programs don't get back to you until mid January?
  4. I just got an interview invite from UNC BBSP, but they only offered me one weekend which of course conflicts with my only other interview. Did other people who heard back from UNC get a choice of weekends?
  5. It looks like you have the choice of applying through TETRAD, BMS or Developmental and Stem Cell Biology (DSCB) program. You may want to apply to the Oral and Craniofacial Sciences program which is through the Dental School. I am curious which program would be more/less competitive.
  6. Undergrad Institution: Big State Research University Major(s): Biology and Math Minor(s): Overall GPA: 3.67 Type of Student: Domestic female GRE Scores (revised/old version): Q: 161 V: 162 W: 4.5 Research Experience: So far I have had one summer internship in a physiology lab, two years in a lab that studies signal transduction in oncology. Right now I am a technician in an academic virology lab for the past year. Co-author on two papers, and first author on one in submission Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Dean's list for a couple of semesters, but that's pretty much it Special Bonus Points: PI at current lab is a NAS member and professor at a school I am applying to I am interested in developmental biology, probably along the lines of establishment of cell polarity/axis formation or morphogenesis Applying to Where: Definitely needs to be cut down Harvard- BBS UChicago- DRSB UPenn.- CAMB UCLA.- ACCESS Michigan- PIBS WUSTL- DBBS Wisconsin- CMB Yale- BBS I am also interested in Weill Cornell or Sloan Kettering because many of the labs I want to join are listed under both programs. How do you decide which program to apply to? Or do you just apply to both?
