  1. AxyC, did they let you know you were accepted? I know some schools literally tell you that you are accepted if you go to the open house. They use the interview weekend to gauge students' interests and then let them know if they are in.

Also, about how many other students attended your open house? I am just nervous if I may get rejected.. I keep hearing that if you have an interview you have a high chance of being admitted, but I am kind of worried.

I was told that formal offers/rejects to interviewed candidates will come out mid March, but as AxyC says, you will have a pretty good idea if you have a shot at an offer after your inteviews.  They are very collaborative in nature.  For me, I only had three interviews and two were not a fit for my research, although they were excellent conversations.  So I only have one option for a possible offer.  Also, each person I met with told me how many people they had funding for 1,2, 4 etc...  If their lab is not a fit for your research then you really do not want to go there anyway, so don't sweat it.

The area was better than I expected and I really liked the people and the collaborative nature of the program.  Good luck!

  2. I had my first Stanford interview yesterday! It went well, I think. She grilled me on my research and then had me do a thought experiment with her. I'd like to think I gave the interviewer educated answers haha. I guess I'll find out later!!

I haven't heard from my other 3 professors yet, but this one was the person that I consider my person of interest :) I'm guessing they're just really busy right now because the visit is this week.

And.. can't wait! Two days until Penn! :D

    One down!

Can't wait to get through my first one! I feel unprepared.

  3. Since this is my main question at this point, I thought it would be a good idea if everyone to add any information they obtain from the interviews for future interviewees.

School                             Program                   number interviewed         number accepted

  4. I contacted Vtech. They said they are making decisions and they expect to contact us by end of March or early april :| ... Rutgers has the same reputation..

We need to initiate study and sample graduate students for their blood and do all the stress marker profile. I'm positive that the stress levels will be very high till april.

Wow that is so late, considering you have to reply to any other offers you have by 4/15...  I like their program, but will definitely be making my decision before early April.

  5. I don't know what to do right now!

MIT interview is during the first weekend, and Gtech (admit recruitment) is during the second.

Whyyy do they schedule things like this

I'm taking the second weekend as I actually have nothing that weekend.  Talk to Gtech, they may have an alternative, I did that with Rice and they were great about it.  You MUST go to the JHU interview, no question.
