Yeah I think we will start hearing on BME interviews next week. I am hoping at least.
-
I applied to the University of Michigan and the University of Virginia for the biomedical science programs and I haven't heard anything yet. Am I most likely rejected?
Do a search on the results page and see if anyone has reported hearing back. I do not remember seeing these though.
Good luck!

Planning on doing this once I know where I get in and have made my decision. I like the gift card idea although for my primary research mentor I am ordering an sciencey kind of gift for her new office in addition to the gift card as she is leaving the University.

Good luck this weekend at your interview TJ! Kill it!
-
Anyone else out there apply to Duke BME? Last year they sent out interview invites this week...ugh I hate this waiting.
-
CanRes, I see two listings for UPenn CAMB on the results tab, the interview emails are listed as being received Dec 12th and 13th. Very often there are multiple waves though, so don't lose hope!
-
For those waiting for UPenn Bioegineering PhD, I was informed by a PI there that skype or phone interviews will go out "very shortly". Then, if you make it through that you would be invited to campus and interview to determine fit.

Yeah, long wait, but at least I have hope! By the way, I entered my stats on the Results page, but they aren't showing, how did you get yours to show?

Received an invite to interview via email from MIT BE this morning! The interview weekend is March 7 and 8th. My first official one!

Great experiences with all except UMich and Ga Tech .
I have confirmation from my school that transcript was mailed a month before deadline to Mich. As of dec 24 still not showing as received. I have my school send a Etranscript which was picked up by Mich that morning. Took another 10 days and multiple unanswered emails to show as received.
Didn't apply to GaTech as they would not respond to my question about when recommendation letters were due; sent me on the endless loop of referring me to one place, they refer me back, phone number given disconnected etc... I gave up. Website very unclear.
On the whole, I thought the majority were responsive and organized.

Thanks TJ! I noticed our schools overlap. I know you will do well, you have great accomplishments! UPenn does not officially interview until after acceptances come out, so don't worry! This PIs research differs slightly in path from my goals so she wanted to make sure I was flexible. No official invite to interview or acceptance, but hoping its a good sign!

Finally heard something! PI from UPenn BioE emailed me today saying she was excited to see my application and wants to discuss her research with me. She also mentions an additional fellowship I might qualify for.

Congrats everyone! You are all doing so well! I checked last year and the earliest I will hear about an invite would be mid to late January for my schools - BME PhD. Guess I will try to relax until then.
-
Judging from last year, looks like I won't be hearing on any potential interviews until mid to late January for my schools, so I guess I'll just forget about it until after the holidays! So far I have only seen people post for interviews in BME at Cornell and Sackler.

haha thanks! Columbia actually emailed me this morning that they are reviewing my application now, so I guess no biggie.

Just found out my third recommender did all of them on time, except he did not do Columbia which was due Sunday the 15th. It may be in his spam folder as my other letter writers had that trouble as well. I am having trouble reaching him to send it. Does anyone know specifically how strict Columbia is!

I had to go to my third recommender's secretary and she read him the riot act and made him do all of my letters right then and there. He had it written fortunately, but had not gotten around to uploading it and was hyper focused on his lab work and definitely would have missed the deadline if she had not intervened.
All are now complete - I do not need this stress during finals!

I had a last minute scramble also. It was my third recommender and I sent several gentle reminders. FInally Sunday night I asked him if he was experiencing problems submitting it as my app would be disgarded if not received in time. He did say he had deleted the email so I sent him specific instructions on how to login, change his password and submit. Six hours later he finally successfully submitted it, just a few hours before deadline. Took ten years off my life.
In retrospect I wish I had done 4 just in case...live and learn.
PhDplease, I am so sorry this happened to you. I am not sure that I would expess your concern to your recommender at this point however, I feel like it might be burning a bridge you may need moving forward. If she asks however, I would tell her that unfortunately your application was disgarded because one of my references was not submitted by the dealine.

I agree with TheOrange, besides I hear that the most important thing is "fit"...so we will see what happens.
Good luck everyone!

Sometimes there is a stray early one and it is usually a contact with a PI and not the blanket invite email, at least that is what I am hoping the Duke one is! I am hoping to hear from Duke and Michigan this week, but I think the rest will be end of March early Feb.
Good luck everyone....ahhh the waiting......
