Columbia interview!
-
-
Didn't get a UPenn invite - pretty surprised based upon receiving several calls for a PI asking me to interview with her.
-
Nope, neither UPenn or JHU have sent interview invites as of yet.
Congrats on RIce!
-
A few interviews have gone out, but someone posted that they do two waves. I applied but haven't heard anything yet either.

It's the Crimson TIde on the results page this afternoon. Scary to see 3.98 GPA's rejected.....

Have you heard anything offical from UPenn as of yet? The PI I talked to was sure the invites would be out last week..
-

Got an invitation for an interview from UW!!
Congrats!!!!

I noticed lots of JHU students in my "also viewed" column, so I am thinking it may be JHU.

Anyone else noticing a spike in anonymous viewers in Linkedin?

I would like to ask for you guys' frank opinions about my profile. Do you guys think i have any good chance at any of those schools?
I think my biggest weakness is the GPA, and i have been trying to compensate for that with research experience in the fields of my interest.
I do have LOR from renowned professors and research scientists of respective fields.
I'm getting very very nervous as some of the results seem to be out already. I.e. Stanford, UCB, Duke...
I would love to get your opinion or advice!
Thank you!
Something to keep in mind also is that these schools are looking for fit as well For instance, if Duke is only looking for BME students with imaging focus, then that is who will be selected, above other highly qualified BME candidates who specailize, say in tissue engineering. It is all about where they have funded openings and taking the best candidates in that pool.

Vowing to remain positive as long as AxyC hasn't heard, since that is the holy grail of profiles!

Got a phone call from the graduate chair of biomedical sciences at Penn state (hershey). My first official funded acceptance and made my day. It is a great place.
The battle of Biomed science Vs Engineering is still going on inside me.. ... will make a decision in april.
Congrats TJ. I bet it feels good to get one locked up!

Welcome AxyC - I too will be at the MIT BE interview weekend. Got an email and follow up call by a PI at UPenn as well, so maybe we will cross paths one day! Anyway, good luck!
TJ don't worry about Penn, the PI I spoke to said she was contacting me because she is new to Penn and since I guess we will be able to request who we meet with on interview day, so she wanted me to request her. I doubt it means that you are not getting an interview if you didn't get a call.

Thanks for the encouragement!

I see Duke BMe candidates have posted that they have been contacted about interviews, nothing for me I guess.
Also I see one person was contacted yesterday by Michigan.
I'll give it to the end of the week, then giving up on these two... booo!
-
I really don't understand how this works. When do they expect to offer those interviews if they meet in late January? Mid-March or something?
Yeah, its like that for BME. I got an early invite from MIT, but the rest of mine send interview invites mid Jan through mid Feb for March interviews. The waiting is rough.
-
For MIT BE, I have to do a full poster presentation and then we are all going to "talk about science". I'm kinda nervous.
-
Virginia Tech/Wake Forest joint BME - I had to do it twice as they changed application companies mid stream. Then they didn't have a GRE number so had to PDF and email my score printout to a certain person.

I had good luck contacting the secretary in his office and she made him stop what he was doing and send my letter!
LOR writer missed a deadline- will a school still look at my application?

I can tell you first hand not to get crazy about this as long as you get the letter in fairly soon. My 3 rd recommender was 10 days late for Columbia and I was just granted an interview!
