OSU is located just north of downtown along a main corridor (high st.--on a map you might see it as SR 23, but the actual SR 23 jags around a bit so it might look a little confusing). clintonville is just north of campus along high st.; the short north is just south of campus on high st. so, as you're traveling south down high st., you'll see: clintonville, then campus, then the short north. as far as street names go: clintonville: from approx. charleston ave. on the north end to approx. olentangy st. on the sound end. yay gradgirl! congrats! can't wait to meet everyone... FYI: i've lived in columbus for the past seven years; if anyone wants to pick my brain about apartments or what have you, what little is there is yours for the taking. also, if anyone needs a guide around the city when looking for places, let me know. PS: i own a home in the NE part of the city--a ten minute drive to campus--and i might be looking for a roommate in the fall. i'll keep you posted.

On behalf of our graduate program, I sincerely apologize for the delay in notifying you of your admission status -- we had hoped to be able to contact you with an offer of admission by now. Our Admissions and Awards Committee placed you very high on our "wait list" for admission with graduate assistantship. As you probably know, we have a small program and it is our policy to admit only those to our MA in literature and comp/rhet concentrations who we can also support with departmental teaching assistantships. Every year we receive more good applications than we have openings available, which makes it necessary to place some excellent candidates on the wait list... We understand that good applicants like yourself may have several options that they need to weigh before making a final decision. (We also sympathize with the discomfort of being in a "holding pattern" for admission to a graduate program--we feel that same discomfort waiting for candidates to respond by accepting or declining our offer!) As of this moment, it is hard to say definitely when or even if we might be able to extend an offer to you, but we would be pleased to keep you on our "wait list" if you are still interested in Miami. Alternatively, if you feel that you just can't invest any more time anticipating an offer from us and decide to go ahead and commit to another program, we cetainly understand; we'd appreciate your letting us know that as well. sibilance7, if you don't mind me asking, who did you meet one-on-one with? i had great experiences with the individual meetings, too, so i'm curious to hear who you met with and how it went. (you can PM me if you'd rather not post names here.) did you end up going to the blackwell inn for the reception? i only stayed for a little bit, considering we'd been there ALL. DAY. i just sent in my acceptance letter--english master's program, nineteenth century british lit focus. yay!

hi all...new to the board, so apologies if i don't follow protocol. i was accepted into the MA program @ osu, and attended the open house on 3/30. i found out i was accepted back in february, but i think that was just because i was up for a fellowship (alas, i didn't get it). i got rejection letters from university of chicago and university of virginia, both in early march. i'm still waiting on a response from miami university (ohio), but i doubt it'll make a difference as i'm pretty sure i'll be attending osu. their funding is pretty amazing when all is said and done, and their eighteenth-nineteenth century british lit faculty are well regarded. good luck to everyone! ~kara
