  1. Hang in there! I don't know if you're anywhere near Chicago, but if things don't work out for you this round, there is a wonderful place called the Lill Street Arts Center. They are a community arts center with a phenomenal ceramics department. Classes are reasonable and they also have work/ trade positions called "monitors." Monitors get perks like free clay, access to the studio from 10-10, and 1/2 off workshops and classes. If you are looking for a change of scenery and a place to continue to hone your skills. I was a monitor for years there and the access to the studios and classes helped me to get my practice where it is today.
  2. I applied to Chapel Hill and haven't heard anything so I'm assuming it's a Waitlist at best for me. Congrats on the acceptance!
  3. Can anyone tell me where the "gayborhoods" are? Or, is Madison a city where there aren't defined GLBT areas? I'm coming from Chicago where we have areas like Boystown, Andersonville, and Rogers Park--queer pockets among a largely accepting city. I'm a partnered lesbian in my 30s who doesn't necessarily need to live in whatever Madison's equivalent of "Girlstown," but still likes to be a part of the community.
  4. Thanks! The date on my letter from Columbia College Chicago was February 20th.
  5. Acceptance letter from Columbia College Chicago today...no word on funding yet.
  6. Has anyone who's been accepted to UW-Madison received an official offer of admission from the Graduate School yet? I received an acceptance email from the department back in January, but would love to have the official letter in hand.
  7. Rejected by Northwestern via email this afternoon. It wasn't the right program for me anyway.
  8. Congratulations! Hopefully Printmaking will follow their lead.
  9. I applied to Chapel Hill as well and haven't heard anything.
  10. Jojoyang, I was accepted into the UW-Madison Printmaking MFA program and am planning a visit in March. You should email the graduate coordinator to talk about program specifics. She's been very responsive.
  11. I applied to their Interdisciplinary Book + Paper MFA, but haven't heard anything yet. They did send an email saying my file was complete and that I would be notified of the application decision 6-8 weeks after the program deadline.
  12. Thanks. I guess being the early bird doesn't get you the worm. I sent them my transcripts via certified mail on November 25th. I received the delivery confirmation from the USPO.
  13. Michigan rejection letter via email today...hope others have better news.
  14. Tyler is also sending out unceremonious paper rejection letters. I got mine on Monday and tore it up with vigor...onward and upward.
  15. Has anyone gotten a UT-Austin interview for Printmedia? I've pretty much given up on them, but am curious if other printmakers have heard anything, positive or negative.
  16. I was accepted into UW-Madison's Printmaking MFA program for next fall and it is a major contender. I am wondering if any of you can recommend websites other than Craigslist and hotpads, so I can start doing some housing research. My partner and I are in our mid-30s and would want to live in an area that reflects this. I won't have a car, so bus line proximity is key. We also have a dog, so access to a park would be nice.
  17. Still wondering about University of Michigan...has anyone had an interview invite yet? I am assuming I've been rejected at this point, but have heard nothing from Admissions via email, snail mail, or on the web portal.
  18. Anyone hear anything from Indiana-Bloomington yet?
  19. Keep your head up, Czarina!
  20. Rejected by Tyler today…oh, well… saves me the cost of a cross-country move.
  21. I got a voicemail from the SAIC Printmedia Department to call them. When I returned the call, I was invited to interview.
  22. pottedpythosplant--congrats on the Northwestern interview!
  23. Pallavi-- congrats on UW-Madison! I was accepted into their Printmaking Program and am hoping to learn more about interdisciplinary possibilities when I visit in March. Ideally I want to move among Printmaking, Paper, Fiber, and glass departments wherever I wind up.
  24. Congrats to the UCSD finalists!
