  2. Masters in higher education/ student affairs Stats: 156V/153Q/3.5W Background: education, substitute teaching Applied: Indiana University, Rutgers University, UofMaryland Admitted: Indiana, Rutgers Rejected: Maryland Going: Rutgers
  3. @Smithie1 I received an email today about internships and how to apply to them. I received it about 2:00pm today. So check your email about it.
  4. @Smithie1 oh okay. I applied there too and didn't hear anything back. But my transcript and one of my LOR's arrived late. I'm in SW Florida.
  5. @Smithie1 Did U Maryland send you an email or just a phone call?
  6. @tdix09 perfect! I will look into that and hopefully they have mention some more about it in the follow-up email
  7. Yes you will! I'm coming from Florida so I have to contact them and see if they have any on-campus housing.
  8. I've heard back from Rutgers and Indiana and I have interviews at both! Just waiting to hear back from Maryland and Syracuse.
  9. I heard back for the masters program. @regacman, I also requested the same weekend!
  10. Has anyone else heard back from the program? Who else is attending Outreach?
  11. Does anyone know of any more programs with later deadlines?
  12. IUP: January 1, 2014 Syracuse University: February 01, 2014 Binghamton University: Rolling Admissions (although I am not entirely how full their funding is) I am in the same boat JBums1028 as I am hoping to increase my chances of getting in somewhere
  13. Oh ok, thank you! That was one thing that I could not find on their website that is really a deal breaker for me.
  14. Hey everyone, I was wondering if anyone has any information on SUNY Buffalo or Buffalo State's higher education programs? I am interested in each of their programs but I wanted more information on their financial information and the general program. I have contacted each program and I am waiting on a response. So is there anyone??
  15. I think that it is mentioned somewhere else but Harvard and Vanderbilt are a little limited on the funding they offer for their masters' students. For most of these programs, doctoral students receive most of the funding and you may have to rely more on loans as a masters student. When I was looking at USC, I did not see much about their funding but it really depends on the type of assistantship that you would receive. Some offer full tuition at USC while others are more restrictive. I would contact each program individually about what type of aid exists for their masters students.Out of all of them UGA appears to offer the best funding out of your list.
  16. I would contact each program about their funding and speak with current students in the program. The students will offer you a better insight in how the funding process works on case by case basis. For example, Vanderbilt tries to offer as many of their Masters' students paid assistantships but there are some students that do not have one. Their funding situation is really on a case by case basis and you have to be more proactive in securing your funding. I think the same thing can be said for Stanford and Harvard does not offer any or very very limited non-loan aid to its masters students. What is it about those schools that attracts you? I was looking at all of those schools but as I looked more into their funding, I realized that they would have been too expensive to attend.
  17. I'm interested, although most of my programs ask for a "regular" statement of purpose more so than an academic SOP?
  18. I have a question for everyone: Are you using a base personal statement for each school and just tweaking it; or are you creating a new statement for each school?
  19. Ohio State was one of the schools I was considering but I had to scrape it due to my budget. I am applying to University of Maryland, Indiana-Bloomington, Rutgers, and Syracuse. I have heard great things about Penn's program but I am looking more for two year programs so that I could get as much experience as possible. I am interested in the practicum experiences that I can get at each school as well as funding! I just took my GRE last week and got a 156V/ 153M and not sure on my writing score. Do these scores with a 3.0 GPA from an Ivy sound competitive? And @tdix09, Rutgers allows you to self report your scores if they don't get in in time and I think Ohio State gives you two weeks after the deadline to turn in everything. Check though on that. What other programs are people applying to?
  20. Is anyone taking faculty research into their consideration for programs?
  21. @hesadork that was very helpful. I am slowly narrowing down my list to places I would actually want to attend
  22. Hey all, I am new to all of this and would really appreciate any guidance on narrowing down my list of schools for student affairs. I am looking to applying to : USC, UPenn, Michigan State, Indiana-Bloomington, Ohio State, UMD, University of Georgia, Rutgers, Loyola, Vanderbilt, and UMass-Amherst
