  1. I think Wisconsin will definitely come next week. Probably Pittsburgh and Iowa too. Michigan and Stanford would be very unlikely, but not incredibly surprising.
  2. 12 January 6.43pm EST. So let's say Jan 13, since you are currently in the old continent. My first guess was 5 bottles in 2 1/2 weeks.
  3. My thoughts exactly. I guess I will just wait for the process to unfold. Oh and I just received intel on the hamster-powered system of the OSU:
  4. I am struggling to repress my urge to e-mail OSU to get some closure on that front. Ugh.
  5. Wonderful news TMCB!! How are you on the wine front? An update on the bottle count would be nice . I saw the Princeton study earlier, but the other link is absolutely hilarious. Thanks for sharing!! Thanks for the detailed answer dmet. I will keep that in mind if I end up in a position to ask such questions to Madison grad students. Congrats! Things are sure moving fast this year and it makes me happy to see the gradcafe-ers doing very well so far. I am out of positive votes for today, so I am sending verbal +1s to both of you.
  6. Hey dmet, I will go ahead and ask the most superficial question out there. How do you survive on the allegedly small (according to one user, small) stipend?
  7. Thanks folks. I am sure we will have a lot more opportunities to celebrate things together. jeudepaume, your signature shows one acceptance, how did I miss that one? Congrats!! Sorry, if you had already shared the news with us and IOGS, welcome to the community of over-anxious page refreshers who understand what you are going through better than anyone Edit: OK I just saw your post up there jeudepaume. In my defense though, it was not there while I was composing my post. I've been through the flat out rejection phase before, so I know how it must feel. Congrats again!!
  8. I am the new UIUC admit, so thanks! It sure is a nice feeling to be in somewhere. I can get used to this really fast I just noticed that I made a mistake reporting the GRE scores in the results board - verbal and quant should be switched. Time to update the signature!
  9. Thanks for letting us know. I feel like I am on an emotional roller coaster. This process is captured brilliantly in the immortal words of Nietzsche: "What doesn't kill you makes you stronger may try again."
  10. FWIW, I did receive a call from my POI but did not receive an offer. It is not possible to not feel hurt by rejections, but this is the nature of the process. As our good boazczoine said, this is just the beginning. Let's all try to stay positive. Congrats B, a great way to start the season indeed. Don't you guys forget Ms Sanders' flowers during the admit weekend
  11. Thanks Prof. B. For the sake of everyone who is still waiting for the good news, I hope the system is running on a hamster-powered TRS-80
  12. Thanks. So then no decision on website --> rejection?
  13. And an OSU admit shows up on the results board. Congrats!! Care to come out of the shadows?
  14. I don't think there are any incentives in hiding the results from adcom members or preventing them from identifying you. Especially when holding on to more than one offer. I can't imagine a situation where disclosing that information would hurt you (unless you post some really nasty stuff here), but I can imagine a situation where it can help you. On the other hand, there might be a number of reasons why one might prefer anonymity vis-a-vis people other than the adcom members.
  15. I don't think a POI's email noting that your application is strong leaves much room for skepticism in the matter we are pulling for you
  16. Man is this thread moving fast. I hope this is not an indication of the competitiveness of this year's admission process compared to previous years
  17. Fingers crossed indeed, wish both of you the best. I have been down that road for a while, and will be again depending on the results of this cycle. So, I feel you. I think after a certain level of techy-ness, people more and more tend to prefer simpler things. Straightforward HTML codes, analogue stuff, you know, more clunky but sturdy, hard to crash, hard to hack kind of stuff.
  18. Did anyone claim A&M or MSU acceptances here yet? Sorry if I missed them. My rule of thumb: If there are multiple acceptances posted on the results board and nobody claimed them here, it is OK to get suspicious about the authenticity of those posts. I think coach told us earlier that the process at Rochester started a bit later than usual. So if I had to guess, I would say the decisions will come out during the second week of February.
  19. I see, thanks. So this year being different from previous years does not seem like a correct description of how admissions are being done at UCSD. Congrats to the MSU admit!! MSU sure is moving fast this year - but postal service?
  20. One of the users here mentioned earlier that UCSD started funding international students this year (I think). I was wondering if you have intel that would confirm this. Assuming, of course, that you will be there next fall. Pretty strong assumption, I say.
  21. Not sure how much the two crowds mingle. Also have my doubts about whether formal theorists are considered "theorists" in the political theory sense by the people in the discipline.
  22. It is a quite good program. They seem to have a preference for how polisci should be done. If that is what you are interested in, then it can be an even better program for you. If not, then I guess you wouldn't have applied in the first place. In any case, an MSU acceptance is not a small accomplishment. Congrats mygrotianmoment. Interview =! acceptance, but it definitely is a damn good signal that you are on the right path.
  23. It seems you will be upgraded to a huskie though, so there is progress
  24. I want to believe in the second explanation until I get in somewhere. Then I will switch to the first one
