  1. For me, I talked about several different concentrations that I am interested in, so I listed several schools in applications that ask for them.
  2. Same here. I don't think contacting professors is important if you apply to some big name school. My application is also kind of generic (didn't mention any professor's name). I think that may have hurt my chances. I haven't contact any department. I would wait until maybe 3/15 for engineering, depending on the deadlines.
  3. I got in. I put down several rows/columns on the matrix, including computer architecture.
  4. I have two acceptances so far, and I am either doing circuits or nanoelectronics/fabrication (leaning towards nano). I think CMU (Carnegie Mellon) has an overall better program, but NDU (Notre Dame) is stronger in what it has (nano science/microelectronics/material/ect). It just beats MIT in establishing a new microelectronics center (http://engineering.nd.edu/centers-institutes/least). Can anyone compare the two?
  5. PhD as well. No idea about Stanford. I unchecked the box for MSc, rather do a direct Ph.D. than risk not getting into Ph. D. after MSc. The only thing that's helping my chance to MIT EECS is probably a LOR from a professor who was on sabbatical at MIT. Without that, I would say my chance is almost nil. Only 1 person has interview for MIT EECS so far? Would be great if you can explain your application process (did you contact the professor?)
  6. I started very early but ended waiting until the last couple of days to submit. If I knew....., I would have make a timeline and set aside school work when I'm behind in applications. I essentially sacrificed my applications for grades.
  7. ~4 pages, but with a lot of space. It includes everything I have done academically.
  8. No interview, but 2 admits (CMU NDU). I was very surprised since CMU sent out an email a week ago about just starting the review process. I am assuming that it's likely I have been rejected from EE programs that interview. Thoughts? Not too sure what to specialize yet, probably circuits or MEMs (talked about both on SOP). You?
  9. "Last Active May 19 2012 04:59 PM" I double you'll get a response, but I'm betting that he went to MIT.
  10. Man, I have almost the same stat as you except that I'm doing EE. So we start hearing back next Monday/Friday?
  11. Hi, I skimmed through the list of answers here http://testprep.about.com/u/ua/thegretest/GRE_Score_User_Answers.04.htm. However, I couldn't find any that matches my circumstances exactly. I would really appreciate if people can let me know my current chance and specifically whether I should retake the GRE or not. Aim: Electrical engineering departments at Berkeley, Stanford, MIT (which doesn't require it), Carnegie Mellon, CIT, UCLA, Princeton etc. GPA: 3.9/4 GRE (taken today): 169 Quantitative 157 Verbal AW- expecting to be at least a 4.0, maybe a 4/4.5 Research: a couple, no publication yet, but maybe later in an undergraduate journal. Extracurricular: excellent 1 superb recommendation (from research adviser), 1 great recommendation, and 1 good recommendation Statement of purpose should be good. Should I consider retaking the GRE next month? I feel like there is a good chance I can raise my verbal score by 5 points, and maybe AW up to 4.5/5 (depending on the topic). Thanks in advance!
