  1. I think my schools might be less competitive. I'm applying to Southern Illinois Edwardsville and Saint Louis University. My fiance' and I bought a house in Edwardsville since that's where we're from and where his job is, so hopefully I'll get in to one of these two!
  2. I'm also wondering. From previous years it looks like no one found out until the last day or two of February.
  3. Sayjo, SIUE is also my top choice, I can't wait until we find out!
  4. I finished my undergrad in SLP in 3 years and you could say I rush things a lot. I've taken three or four of the classes I'll need in grad school (depending on program) this year in undergrad. I'm planning to take a full load each semester and do as many clinical hours as possible, I'm just wondering if anyone has graduate from their master's program in SLP before the standard 2 years. I know it's not likely and I'll have to talk to my advisor if I get accepted, just wanted to see if anyone's done it! Thanks!
  5. SLP is very easy to graduate early from. I go to University of Illinois and am easily graduating with an SLP degree in 3 years, could have been 2.5 if I pushed myself. I tested out of a lot of classes though. Just take as many classes as you can handle and get your gen eds done ASAP. I know many people in different colleges that are graduating in SLP in 3 years, it is definitely possible.
  6. I am totally freaking out! I only applied to 3 local schools and am getting married in June. I have no idea what I will do if I don't get in to one of them!
  7. I'm a senior a uiuc now. I believe summer start is optional if you want to get electives over with
  8. The schools I talked to all said to aim for a 300 combined score and they could care less about the writing portion which was the same with undergrad
  9. I'm a senior in SLP at UIUC so maybe I can help! I would say finish your psychology degree first. It will take way too long to switch it up and get an SLP degree. I switched from biochemistry to SLP after my first semester at UIUC and was able to graduate in 3 years (2011-2014). What I would did is take SHS 120, SHS 111, SHS 170, and SHS 375 along with your psych classes. SHS 120 and 170 are required classes that you can typically take without being in the major. Try to get a minor in SLP! There are not many classes (like 18 hours) and I think it'd be really helpful if you can fit those classes in! I would also apply to volunteer at Carle hospital in the CHAOS unit. I am graduating in May with a 3.8 GPA and LORs from top professors, and a pretty decent GRE score and am very nervous that I will likely not get in to many schools. I would apply to grad schools for SLP during your senior year. Also observe SLPs, in the major we need 25 observations to graduate, so getting a start for grad school will help. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions!
  10. Hi! Nice to meet a fellow Illinoisian! lol I am applying to SIUE, SLU, and Fontebonne (live in Edwardsville, so they are all close). I've noticed that most of the schools around here aren't quite as competitive as some of the well known schools so that's nice but I'm still freaking out lol Good luck to you and maybe I'll see you in class next year! lol
  11. Hello! This is my first time posting! My name is Emilee and I'm a senior at University of Illinois in speech and hearing science. I have a 3.7 GPA, 157 Verbal, 159 Quantitative, 3.5 Writing. Graduating a year early, volunteered at two schools, 3 years experience working at a daycare, and some other organizations. My fiance' and I just bought a house in Southern Illinois so I'm only applying to the 3 nearby universities! So nervous I won't get in to any of these schools although they aren't exactly prestigious.
