  1. Update for those who are worried about UVA BIMS ! Just called them and they are still reviewing applications. They said that they are behind the schedule this year and trying to catch up. So it may take 1-2 weeks more to get any update.Lets hope for the best. FYI,I called the cancer bio office. So not very sure about other depts
  2. I also sent a mail and after one week got a reply saying my mail was forewarded to Mary Hall. Still waiting to get some response from her. Also, there is no change in my applicatopn page . It seems odd to me that they have only 8 spots. Do you know anything about their student intake of the last few years?
  3. Thanks for that info I see that you have got an interview from UT Austin.Congratz!! When did you get it? I applied to the Biochemistry program (International applicant). Can you give me any info about that?
  4. Any news about Rice University and UVA? I have not seen much about Rice and wondering whats actually going on with it.
  5. Congratulations!! Did you call the IMBS office or the grad office?
  6. UNC BBSP Update: I sent a mail to the Grad Coordinator and got a reply saying the admissions committees are in their last stretch of meetings and all the remaining applicant will get response within next two weeks. So lets just hope for the best. I saw a few rejections on the results which said they got rejection via webpage (applyyourself). Where they post the rejection? At least they can send an email. It seems very rude to me.
  7. I agree with you to some extent. If I were an american student,I would say the same thing. But if you think from a different perspective, you might understand a few things more. US school get more funding than most of the universities all around the world. So even the chance for an international student to get into one of those programs is less, it is still better than what they may get in their home country. Also, when an international student finds out that he/she has experienced the best which was available in their country, they think about exploring new place that offers better opportunity. So it is applicable to all countries which has good research facilities, not just America. And most importantly, it is the scientific community which is beyond all nationalities. If you carefully look at the faculty list of most of US grad schools, you would be surprised to see how many of them come from a different country. It must have been hard for them at the begining as well. But they worked and proved their worth. Some universities even proudly announce how many international students they have. It is all about trying to get the best regardless of the origin of the student. It may sound weird, but the truth is american programs are not just american anymore.
  8. The results page made me so sad Most of the international applicants were rejected.Completely dejected....Now I am really worried and mentally preparing for another application cycle.
  9. I don't know much about the holiday schedule of US grad schools. So can someone tell me when they are gonna start working again ?
  10. Actually UVA BIMS started sending invites very fast, just after their deadline. i saw a few people posting about their invites before 12/25. Dont know how they review and send invites.Just trying to determine if I should be hopeful or not
  11. Um..do they send invites at once or weekly like UNC? Biting nails...here goes my new years eve :/
  12. I will apply next year if it doesn't work out for me this year and will keep trying no matter what... I know I want to stay in the field of research (hopefully cancer bio) and there will be no alternative for me other than getting into school. I struggled a lot to come this far and a few rejections can not change my mind. I really hope we all succeed this year and dont have to go through this waiting game again.
  13. Don't lose hope yet. You already got invited for interview by UW! It proves that you are good enough. And GRE score is just another factor but not the deal breaker. If GRE was the only parameter then trust me, a lot of good researcher would never go to Grad school. I am not satisfied with my scores either and wish I could retake it but one of my seniors said that sometimes they dont even consider it as a way to judge an applicant. So lets just hope for the best.
  14. Congratz!! Did you get invites for UVA BIMS? or chemistry?
  15. Good to see some more international students. Makes me feel that I am not the only one who is suffering and has to wait longer. Any idea about about UT Austin invites for international students?
  16. I applied on Nov 30.So its been 22 days ( yes, I am counting days now ) but didnt get any response. I was wondering if they got my GRE +TOEFL scores on time and stuff like that. How did you check that for UTHealth? Don't know if I should mail their office to ask about it or should wait a couple of days more to do so.
  17. I know the feeling but to see some one with better stat freak out makes you feel ..i dont know how to put it.Guess we are on the same boat but i think its tough for you guys as its holiday time for y'all.Working 10 hours in the lab is my saving grace right now.Never thought i would say this, but i am wishing I had to work longer hours so that I didnt get any time to think about grad school.
  18. Calm down!! to watch you this nervous is making me hyper as well!! Trust me, you have better stat than many of us and as someone said this to you already, you still have a good chance!!
  19. Hi Adenine_Monarch! I just noticed you got invites from USC PIBBS and BCM IMBS.When did you apply?
  20. Thank you for that post!! I was going crazy!! phew
  21. Have you guys noticed that neuroscience people are super fast when it comes to app reviewing and sending invites. I guess working in that field made them as fast as neurons wish cancer bio people were that fast...sigh . I promised myself that I would not check my mails today and broke it 5 times already.
  22. I applied on time. In fact I submitted my app 2 days before the deadline for all Uni.But I guess it was still late considering UNC showed my app complete on DECEMBER 9 though I submitted it on NOV 28. I had some problem with my credit card which caused all the problems..UGH... I couldn't agree more with you! Every time I come here, I have multiple heart attacks (really, no kidding about it). Btw, where did you see UVA invites? there Deadline was DEC 15. How come they reviewed and sent invites so fast?! I made a stupid mistake in that app. I applied there because one of there profs told me to do so and later informed him that I mentioned my sincere interest to work with him. He said it was good and told me to inform him if I get any response from Grad committee. AND I FORGOT TO MENTION HIM MY SOP!!! only mentioned him in the section where they asked if I mailed any profs. Really worried about it.
  23. Is there anyone who called Rice Uni, UT Health or UT Austin to ask about their invites? UGhh..I should have applied earlier and not wait till the last moment to submit my app...Not even sure if they reviewed it or not
  24. Hi.When did you apply for UT Austin? I am eagerly waiting for their response too
  25. How many students do they usually take every year?
