  1. Glad I found this forum again! This time last year, I was applying to Cal State LA, Cal State Northridge, and Ohio State University (I'm originally from Ohio and wasn't sure if I was going to stay in Ohio or move at the time). I was accepted to Cal State LA, but deferred it for a year to do service in an Americorps program. The program I am a part of does a partnership with USC, and I looked at USC's curriculum and I really liked it, so I applied. I applied for the early decision deadline, but application difficulties occurred, and my application didn't count until the December 8th deadline. I hope I get in USC, though I do understand how the cost is pretty scary (I'm gonna have to receive A LOT of financial aid). That being said, I'm waiting to hear back from USC, as well as receive my deferrment package from CSULA in the mail to see what that process is like. Has anyone heard back from USC or CSULA?
  2. That's it? That would be awesome if all grad schools were like that!
  3. That was so smart to do...if I don't get in, and I try next year, I'll remember that!
  4. I know the feeling. When I do actually get my applications in, I won't find out about them until about May...that's too much for me, haha! If we both go to OSU, maybe we will be classmates I go to OU now as undergrad, and I know a bit about their grad program. Let me know if you have questions! OU is focused on rural communities. Why don't you have confidence? Are the schools you are applying to now more challenging?
  5. U of M is a really good social work school. I think I got something in the mail from them about a visit day. That would be awesome if you got to go to U of M. Congrats on getting accepted at Wayne State!
  6. Getting used to this website!

  7. Hi everyone! I'm new to this forum, and I am glad to see other people wanting to also pursue an MSW. I thought it would be an interesting conversation to get to know some people by seeing where you are all applying to, and what concentration you're interested in. I'm applying for Fall 2014 for Cal State Northridge and Cal State L.A. I'm also applying for the advanced standing program for OSU (which would start summer 2014). I'm interested in studying mental health in children, adolescents, and family. I am also possibly interested in substance abuse. What about you all?
  8. I think I misjudged how long the application process is for graduate school. Especially during senior year, when we are super busy! The schools I am applying to are Cal State Northridge, Cal State L.A., and Ohio State University. I would prefer to get my masters degree in the state where I will eventually be living and working (California), but funding is a big part of everything, too. I'm almost done with my Northridge application. I'm just waiting for my personal statement review my boss offered to do for me, and my references. Good luck to everyone!
  9. I'm applying to two grad schools in California as well! I'm from out of state though, so the residency expense isn't going to be very fun. I figure it is going to be competitive, but I'm still hoping I get in. Good luck to everyone!
