  1. BU and GW emailed me notifying that they have received my app and that it's under review. I still haven't heard anything from Columbia, Yale and Emory yet. My SOPHAS app was mailed out this past Wednesday (10/30) though, so hopefully I'll hear something sometimes next week.
  2. haha good luck!! And remember: the sooner the better!
  3. Will do!!! Good luck applying!
  4. I'm also applying to BU too but I haven't visited the campus yet! What a shame, I know haha. BU in general is right in the middle of everything in Boston lol. Public transportation (T line and bus) is very convenient and I feel relatively safer compared to NYC.
  5. hahaha.. have you applied??
  6. I looked at NYU MPH and I, too, wasn't that impressed. I feel like they don't really have a lot of options to offer :/
  7. I felt a little underwhelmed afterwards. I didn't think it was informative nor insightful as I had hoped. It started off by giving a very brief explanation about the admission process and what they were looking for. After that, there were 2 panels: one from a professor from each department and the other was from current students. They didn't really have anything to say except answering questions that perspective students had. Also, the current students were all first year (keep in mind that they have been there for a little over 2 months), so they weren't very insightful at all. I asked one of the current students at a reception about the professors at Mailman, and she told me that it was quite hard to be in touch or get to know them on a personal level, because the class size is quite big and they seem to be very busy with their own work. :/ Anddd....the area around Columbia Medical Campus isn't exactly the nicest area lol. Yale, on the other hand, was AMAZING! The staff and current students (second year) were very welcoming and offered a lot of good information regarding the school and the programs. Yale is very student-focused and research-oriented. If accepted, they will make sure that you do well in your classes. Due to a VERY small size, everyone seems to know everyone, and they are very supportive of each other. The campus (both medical and main) is good but I don't know how I feel about the area surrounding Yale or New Haven though. I'm still deciding if I should visit Emory since it's quite far for me (I live in Boston).
  8. I already went to Columbia's and Yale's earlier this month!
  9. Yes, I applied for epi to all of these schools. I was actually considering environmental health sciences since I want to do research on the environmental influences on infectious diseases, but I heard that epi is a great start for someone who hasn't studied public health. What program are you applying to??
  10. Hello everyone! I'm applying to MPH for the entering class of 2014, mostly epidemiology with a concentration in infectious diseases.
