  1. I didn't ask about the waitlist...
  2. I called UPenn's art history office and was told that not all offers of admission have been sent out yet, but they should finalize everything by the beginning of next week.
  3. Good luck everyone! Only 3 more apps left for me to submit, and then it's the waiting game! Program: PhD in Art History Schools Applying To: USC, UChicago, Harvard, Princeton, Yale, CUNY, Duke, UPenn Interests: 19th - 20th century European art Current: M.A. Art History student, Tulane Undergrad Institution: UC Berkeley Undergraduate GPA: 3.7/4.0 Undergraduate Major: Art History and Studio Art GRE: V 167 / Q 146 / AW 5.0 Age: 30 Languages: Advanced German, advanced French, intermediate Spanish Experience: year-long fellowship in Germany, 2 conferences, 1 publication, museum internship, semester abroad in Paris in undergrad, work experience in art galleries, art consulting firm, art non-profit orgs, and teaching Concerns: Actually getting accepted somewhere since it seems to be such a crapshoot. Also, hoping that tax plan doesn't get passed...
  4. Tulane fully funds all their art history MA students. They provide full scholarships for tuition AND an annual stipend of about 18k for serving as a TA.
  5. FYI for those of you concerned about Northwestern: I called the Northwestern Art History department this morning because I noticed my application also said that it was incomplete due to a TOEFL. They fixed it manually right away and they also said that all applications have been reviewed even if they were marked as incomplete. They also said that interviews are sometimes a part of the admission process for some people, but not a requirement for admission, so if you didn't get an interview it doesn't necessarily mean that you were not accepted.
  6. modern: specifically 1870s-early 1900s in france, germany, and austria
  7. So does that mean that you were not accepted? Are they calling the people they have rejected first?
  8. Poliscar, thank you so much for that link!! That is an amazing resource that I had no idea about and just after browsing a few minutes has already been incredibly helpful! I have been in contact with Brigid Doherty as well. Good to know I'm on the right track - just want to make sure I wasn't missing something. There seems to be a lot more scholars in Europe compared to the US that are studying the Vienna Secession.
  9. Thanks everyone for your input and suggestions. I have looked into Koerner at Harvard and I would say that's my first choice at this point. Chuckthecloser, the Vienna Secession isn't the only thing I want to focus on - I have a much broader interest in the 19th century-early 20th century, but I was just surprised at how difficult it was to find any professors doing any research whatsoever on the Vienna Secession, which is such an historically rich time period. German/Austrian art seems to be a field rather underrepresented in the top universities. Good to know that finding someone in the same time period but a different country could work, because there are plenty of professors doing work on French art during that time.
  10. Hi everyone I've been lurking for awhile here and am finally posting. I was wondering if anybody had any insight as to any specific professors that focus on the Vienna Secession. I'm also interested in French art nouveau and German expressionism. I've been able to track down a few professors, but mostly ones that have only a side interest in the Vienna Secession. And I'm looking into top tier schools just because I know how impossible and competitive the job market is... Any ideas? Thanks!
