  1. I'm pt retry sure MSE doesn't have a wait list so him rejecting wont help u
  2. Got it E/E E/E E/VG The review seems to be very flawed. My outreach/tutoring (broadening participation part) seemed quite weak. I had literally one or two instances (like 2 hours each time) that I talked about. I left out the part that these were only one time things (but I didn't lie either) and somehow I get praised from all 3 reviewers for these one time ordeals. Seems kinda unfair. I'm also very surprised how some of the, i'd say average (maybe a little above) students in my school got it, but stellar students did not, but NSF does have their own criteria. Will be declining award anyways, so hopefully it opens up for some HM.
  3. Are all of you a bunch of cry baby pussies or what? You guys are what? At least 22 and still bitch about these trivial things? pathetic
  4. Hey guys. So Cornell's MechE visit day is coming up this week. Is anyone going? Does anyone know where we're staying and how to get from the Ithaca airport to the hotel? Also, any clue if we need to dress formally?
  5. I believe so, not positive. I'm an undergrad at Princeton, but I didn't apply to the grad program. I'm pretty sure the acceptances are sent out in bulk and sometime next week. Besides, I'm under the impression there's a lot of BSing going on on the results page for some reason.
  6. Any clue when results are out? I hear early April?
  7. Oops jesseengineer you're right. I got my umich and cornell switched.
  8. Cornell march 13-14 for sibley
  9. Out of curiosity, are you more interested in USC because of the research area?
  10. I thought of that suggestion too (in your last sentence). One of the schools I am visiting is Cornell. I am still waiting to hear back from Princeton (hopefully next week). The two schools are pretty close to each other so I can see that working out. But isn't it more expensive for them to fly me from Cornell to Princeton then back to my home institution as opposed to home to princeton back to home? But I don't even know when princeton's visit days are. I just hope they don't coincide.
  11. Thanks for the reply. I don't think these are classified as interviews since I have already been admitted with full funding. Unless they interview you after you're admitted?
  12. UMich - 28K Stipend for 12 months, tuition+health insurance+some other things covered. Cornell - 31k Stipend for 12 months, tuition+health insurance+some other things covered. I thought PhDs typically receive stipends around 20k? Then again, I don't know the cost of living in ann arbor and ithaca. Though I am under the impression that these places aren't very expensive to live at.
  13. Applied to 4 schools. Accepted into 2 so far. The results for one of the other schools should come out next week. No idea when the 4th comes out (Caltech). So, for the two schools I have gotten in so far, the visit days are on different weeks. So that's good. They gave me a time frame to accept/decline the visit (by end of next week). So my concern is, if I get in the other schools and the visit days end up intersecting with each other. Has anyone had this happen before? What did you do? Declined one or can you reschedule?
  14. Does anyone know when Princeton might do visit day? I think results come out next week. I don't want to agree to Cornell's visit day then find out Princeton scheduled it the same day.
  15. Email. I am the friend (posting on this account). Cornell sent out mass acceptance emails today. UMich's Aero program is a little different it seems. They seem to send out offers one by one (not by mass) when your POI agrees to advise you. Visit days are 3/7 for Cornell and 3/13-3-15 for UMich. All paid for. 31k stipend at Cornell, 30K at UMich. Both with tuition, health insurance and all that good stuff covered (Comes to be 80k ish UMich and 66k ish Cornell per year). . I think I am funded by a university fellowship the first year for both schools. I know Cornell does that so students can experience different areas before they find an adviser.
