Where are you from?
Hatem replied to I am not sure yet's topic in IHOG: International House of Grads
I'm from Egypt and I'm interested into Biology programs. -
Thank you Iowa Guy for this comment!

Oh, I made a mistake about that point. Actually it was TOEFL test scores that were sent with my photo on it. In Egypt, where I took both the GRE and TOEFL test, the testing center takes photos for the applicants to send them to ETS to ensure that you are the same person whose photo appears on ID and passport. I received my TOEFL test score report and I found my photo included in the report. but for the GRE they didn't do that it was just my scores in there. In many non US institutions the student's photo must be attached to transcripts and certificates and must be sealed too.

I think your photo will be on your undergrad transcripts/ certificates, so why do you want to put it on your cv. Also ETS will put your photo on your GRE report when sending it.

Took GRE on no sleep anyone else experience this and re-take later?
Hatem replied to grimmiae's topic in GRE/GMAT/etc
I didn't sleep a wink the night before the test. My test was scheduled on 9 a.m. However I scored nearly the same score I used to get from practice tests especially power prep. But I'm going to retake the revised test soon. -
This feature in gmail is both a bless and a curse. one member here said that when she clicked the message to open, the webpage was very slow downlaoding but she could read the sneak preview saying "offer of admission".

Hahaha, that's very nice from Tufts to type a friendly subject line!
-
Really? is this always the case?
-
When you received the final decision from your schools, whether you were accepted, rejected, waitlisted or invited for an interview. What did they write in the subject line of the email sent to you? Perhaps this sounds like a silly question but I'm really curious to know.As I recieved and still receive emails from my school for other issues other than final decsion and every time I see an email from them I freak out.

How long a recommendation letter should be?
Hatem replied to Hatem's topic in Letters of Recommendation
But one page is normal? -
one page is enough?

Is it possible to send them your current GRE scores, then update those scores when you retake the test on January?

Unfortunately, this is the truth. However I'm trying to put into a positive context like saying <I believe XYZ master’s will give me more in depth knowledge, both theoretically and parctically that will make me a more competitive applicant for a Phd in a university in north america or europe.> sounds good?

That's exactly what I'm trying to put into my SOP.Here's an example of what I wrote: <I waited few years since I graduated from university to join graduate studies. During these years I've studied and learnt several skills. I improved my English langauge greatly, learnt computer and IT skills and awarded several international certificates. I learnt several soft skills and I worked in two different fields, medical representation and occupational health. And I became financially independent from my parents.During that period I practiced self study and independent learning of biological sciences> What do you think?
-
Yes, I'm My research interests in addition to my current research project. Moreover, trying to justify gap years after graduation "see my topic with the same headline in SOP forum" Molecular virology, molecular biology and immunology. Middle east and north africa, actually it's Egypt."live the revolution!" OH! north eastern, midwest and south

Hi everybody, I'm writing my SOP and I have 2 issues. First, I 'm am international applicant and I stayed 5 years away from college after graduation, working in fields other than my field which is biological sciences. Then, 2 years ago I joined a master's program in biology at my country, and still working towards my master's degree. I want to know how should I explain those 5 years away from school? Second, although I'm pursuing a master's degree but I'm applying for another master's in the same field.I'm not applying for Phd even though I want to get a Phd in biological/biomedical sciences but competition is very tough especialy for international applicants,so my strategy is to get a master's first from an american school then apply again for Phd in the US. How should I explain my decision to seek a second master's in the same field? Thanks in advance

A UCLA professor replies me, andwhat does that imply ?
Hatem replied to zernike's topic in Applications
As far as I know from reading posts on this forum, some professors have an auto-reply.They just encourage the potential applicant to apply to their program. In your case the professor encouraged you to apply to their Phd "although you are applying to a master as it appears on your profile".I don't know if she really liked you and your C.V.,so she asked you to apply for a Phd instead of a master or she's just autoreplying you.
