  1. *Bites nails nervously* thank you! Do you know where in the Caucasus?
  2. Hi, yeah I applied for the Caucasus region too, Armenia. Where did you apply? I've been wondering the exact same thing... Research or ETA for you?
  3. BTW, are anyone else's parents texting them literally every day asking "Any news?" The funniest was when my mom said "This wait is agonizing." hahahahaha
  4. Omg I just noticed the statistics (late bloomer). 5 recommended from the US to Armenia, and 2 were accepted by Armenia. Holy crap.
  5. Fellow anthropologist (UNCAnthro)! What is your research proposal on?
  6. Ugh I'm so nervous! Email, Gradcafe, Email
  7. Work is able to keep me insane and busy. Plus it's my youngest housemate's 21st birthday tonight (I'm 25) so that should help, too! Any forecasted notifications tonight or Monday? The last Armenia applicant heard back on 3/22 (tomorrow...Saturday). Thank you, Fulbright
  8. Going nuts, y'all.
  9. Ice cream is constantly stocked in the freezer, and a healthy but not alcoholic amount of "libations." St. Patrick's Day prep, anyone? I also discovered learning how to play darts is a great stress reliever. You get to throw sharp things at inanimate objects. What better, nonviolent stress reliever? Yoga does nothing for me haha
  10. Thanks for clearing that up, padthai234!
  11. Ok that reassures me slightly more, thank you! Still gotta fight to not get it passed though. I was confused because it said it was for FY15, but it does seem late to affect this year's budget.
  12. Yeah, seems like a lot of lovely ETAs on here. Any researchers find out yet? I'm taking the $30 million cut to heart and am, yeah, going a little nuts. Looking into alternative sources just in case.
  13. I signed the letter right away
  14. Omg please tell me this isn't so.
  15. I'm definitely going crazy. I'm still networking with people in my potential host country, Armenia, and developing good contacts. I'm also frantically checking the news over there. So over this.
  16. No, but I accidentally e-mailed the person on the Fulbright commission overseas before I found out about the U.S. recommendation! I backed off fast, because I didn't want to weird her out with my anxiety about the Fulbright. "February-June." Ugh. Especially if you're trying to literally figure out what the next step in your life is (something I think all/the vast majority of us on this forum could relate to). I find early morning, heavy metal workouts to be effective. Yoga does nothing for my nerves/stress.
  17. Ugh I'm so nervous! Especially because I keep reading new nerdy/interesting research about my topic and meeting badass contacts abroad. How are the rest of you holding up? And the whole not-telling-us-if-they-received-our-transcripts thing, so not cool.
  18. I've been thinking all day about all my fellow applicants who were unable to move forward in the Fulbright process. All of you seem like a very intelligent and ambitious group of people, so don't think of it as a missed opportunity but applaud yourself for having the guts to apply in the first place! You seriously are going to kick some major butt. Question: what specifically is the host country committee? Is it the US embassy in our respective host countries or a separate entity? Anybody know?
  19. Recommended.
  20. I'm so sorry I haven't received an e-mail yet and my office doesn't know I applied for a Fulbright. I'm currently stuck in a conference room listening to a couple banter about trivial things. I want to scream into a pillow.
  21. I don't have pie, but I have lots of coconut macaroons and making plans to watch the SOTU (DC life). I also feel positive because I just had a great informational interview with Physicians for Human Rights and it looks like I might have a good shot at an internship. Kudos to all my fellow anthros out there!
  22. ARGH!!!! Informational interviews at 4:30 and 7. Who else feels like they need a dartboard?
  23. Thank you, and to you, too! FTW, I won't be drinking all the alcohol. Just the Riesling.
  24. Good morning, all! I hope you're all staying cautiously optimistic today because you're awesome! I made sure to schedule back-to-back meetings all over DC (AKA, absolute insanity), the last one ending at 8pm. I also have 2.5 bottles of wine and a hefty amount of Blue Moon as well as some Ben and Jerry's ready.
  25. Mojodreams, I completely agree with you. I've accepted the worst possible outcome so I feel prepared, but I'm also proud that I (and all of you who also submitted a Fulbright application) did the best I possibly could on my application and submitted something I am confident about. Heck, props to us for actually working hard and going through this process. I promised myself there are many other ways to get to Armenia, too. Keeping my fingers crossed for all of us!
