Yeah I contacted them when I saw the deadline for supplemental material had passed (it had said Jan 15 and then changed to Jan 8). They said it had happened to a lot of people so they were allowing us to submit stuff until the 15th. That's probably where the week extension came from.

Did Toronto actually extend the deadline or was it a mistake? Because what happened to me was the deadline on the department site said one thing, the application said another, and then the online system said something else.

Yes, I was going to say that I didn't apply to Duke but if I did and went there, I'd be quite relieved that that person did not get accepted!

Really? Last year Princeton notified admits on Feb 19 (Thursaday) and rejects Feb 20(Friday) and and if they do the Thurs-Friday thing again, that should be next week.

I want Princeton and Harvard but I know that it probably won't be til next week . I am expecting to hear from UCL this week though.

Anyone want to take a gamble on who we'll hear from this week?

I had the same problem. I just contacted the school and asked them to push it back to April 1 (from Feb 3) and they said no problem. It wasn't even an issue.

Yeah Harvard came out just after Princeton last year. Like cpaige said, Princeton should be the 18th (since last year the 19th was a Thursday and this year it's a Friday). Last year admits got in Feb 19, rejects were informed the 20th.

I have been constantly checking my email all day long and I just got an email saying my submission to a CFP had been accepted and I was selected to deliver the paper at a conference in April! I'm so excited - this will be my first conference presentation and I'm actually kind of terrified because I always pictured this moment coming at some point when I had an advisor to assist me and prep me for what was going to happen but I'm unaffiliated at the moment. Can anyone else who's done this give me any advice/tips?

What was the area code? If it's in one of the areas your schools are in, it could be good news!

Oh, and the methods course was great. Lots about theories of truth, relativism, methods in history of political thought, etc. I actually got my dissertation out of that course, as well as the idea for what I want to write my PhD on.

Funding was a bit different when I went, but I got full tuition. I had to pay for my own living expenses though. Back then there was the Graduate Merit Award which was based solely on merit and could be worth 0, 3000 or 6000 pounds. If you got one, even if it's worth 0, you were entitled to apply for the Graduate Support Scheme which was needs based.
