  1. I had a dream I was rejected by a program that hadn't started sending invites. I was glad to wake up and see it was a dream. A week later, I saw invites had gone out and after a week or so, I contacted my POI. He confirmed I will not receive an invite. I don't think i'm prophetic, it was a long shot anyway (though I had an interview from another long shot).
  2. This question might be moot because it may be field specific and I am not sure if the OP is still around. But are you guys specifically looking at US News and World Report for program ranking? Or is it more subjective than that? I know the OP said if you have to ask, it is not in the top 25... but if you are coming from outside the field this distinction is harder to discern. Also, I have heard many in my field be very dismissive of the US News and World Report rankings and pointing out its flaws. They seem to put more stock in productivity of faculty, quantity and quality of pubs, grants awarded, funding, etc...
  3. Thanks. I am in a different field but I found this informative. I am also a career changer so a lot of this I had discovered during my pre-application research but if I were coming straight from undergrad I wouldn't have had a clue. So I think it is very valuable that you are sharing your experience.
  4. I had my first interview last weekend. and even though I was about ten years older than most applicants, I didn't find it to be an issue. I even stayed with a first year grad student who had come straight from undergrad and we got along well. I did ask the dept head of admissions if he thought my age would be a factor and he assured me it would not (unless of course I made it one!)
  5. Thanks for this. I have my first interview this weekend and I hope it goes as well. (and is as fun as this sounded) I am curious about what school this was. It sounds like they have a good interview set-up.
  6. did you check SDN: good info on this site for Clinical : http://forums.studen...isplay.php?f=57 I think Stony Brook is on there.
  7. Has anyone heard from U Denver's Clinical Child program? I am especially interested to find out if my POI, Dr. Hankin, is interviewing. Thanks!
  8. good info on this site for Clinical : http://forums.studentdoctor.net/forumdisplay.php?f=57
  9. Could you please PM me if your POI is Dr Gotlib? I am curious if he is interviewing. Thank you.
  10. Yes, me! Any Stanford Personality folks hear anything?? Thanks!
  11. Who heard from Stanford? Would you mind sharing your concentration (cognitive, social, etc) and/ or your POI? Pretty please
  12. OUCH. and this is from 2002. I wonder if it has gotten worse! Maybe not getting in will have an upside if this is the future.
  13. my brother - who went to a highly ranked medical school- confirmed this.
  14. Hi I am new here and not entirely sure of protocol. But I noticed some other threads on subareas of Psych and figured it couldn't hurt to start one. I am applying to 7 Clinical programs and 1 Personality program. My applications are in, I just need to double check receipt of materials. Good Luck!
  15. Another oldster here! 35 and applying for Fall 2010 PhD programs. Regarding TT positions- how will they know how old you are? The college graduation date listed on your CV? I mean I get carded all the time. and (good genes) can appear up to 10 years younger easily.
  16. I did the bolding too and I saw it on other CVs.
  17. I hate to say this especially as a proud Berkeley grad but the UC budget situation is a mess. I would advise not applying esp if you need funding . ;(
