  1. I called a couple weeks ago and got the same spiel. I've pretty much written them off my list because I don't think I'd have time to visit or even really think about their program before the deadline. Very strange indeed
  2. I mostly sent semi-generic thank you's to the PIs I interviewed with (made sure to include some tiny personal bit in each), but for the 3 I clicked well with, I made sure to follow up/ask more questions, mostly because I was still curious about their labs and I feel confident that I would go there if I'm accepted (due to perfect timing in the way research there is developing). I doubt it has much bearing on the decision.
  3. Rejection from Boulder IQ Bio but an interview invite to their Biochem program all in one morning! Certainly takes the sting out of it.
  4. Just got news of my UCSF rejection (first one woo party at my place), but the false hope for Stanford is still alive! Has anyone heard from UW BPSD or CalTech BMB? Those are the only two programs I don't think I've seen any chatter about
  5. I got an invite from them in December, right after Christmas
  6. Still haven't heard anything from Stanford which is a total bummer, but Madison is nominating me for a "highly competitive" fellowship so I guess it's fairly safe to say that they'll admit me as long as I don't screw up my interview. Yay for getting in somewhere!
  7. Saw Stanford and Berkeley Biophysics on the results page anyone here want to claim those posts, maybe more details? Hopefully I'll hear something tomorrow, and if not then at least starting classes (and my undergrad thesis ugh) will be a nice distraction
  8. I applied for Biophysics, so maybe Chemical Biology is just taking their sweet time
  9. I heard back from Scripps a the end of December (the 30th IIRC). But they could have different committees looking at different tracks, so who knows. It sounds like we applied to a lot of the same places (all my schools are in those three states as well). Good luck!
  10. Just got an email from Scripps today (my top choice, so best Christmas present ever!); the interviews are Feb 20-22 or March 6-8 for the La Jolla campus, not sure about Jupiter (didn't apply)
  11. I've been lurking here for a while when I'm not stressing with people live and in-person, so I figured I should join and suffer with some new people, plus I saw some other biophysics folks: we need to stick together! I got an invite to Madison, haven't heard back from anyone else (yet) Undergrad Institution: Super Tiny Liberal Arts College Major: Biology Minor(s): Chemistry GPA in Major: 3.84 Overall GPA: 3.72 Position in Class: We don't rank, but probably top 10% or so Type of Student: Domestic female GRE Scores (revised/old version): Q: 167 V: 163 W: 5.0 Biochem: 630 Research Experience: 2 years at my school, one SROP at a top research school Awards/Honors/Recognitions: Oral presentation award at statewide conference Pertinent Activities or Jobs: Biology/Chemistry Tutor and TA Special Bonus Points: The closest thing I have to a connection is that I did my SROP at Stanford, so hopefully they want me back Applying to Where: The Scripps Research Institute - Biophysics Track CalTech - Biochemistry & Molecular Biophysics Stanford - Biophysics and Structural Biology UCSF - Biophysics Berkeley - Biophysics CU Boulder - Biochemistry and IQ Biology UW - BPSD UWisconsin Madison - Biophysics
