  1. Just had to send out new copies of official transcripts to two schools who are still showing my applications as incomplete online. Sort of annoying, especially since it took a while to get actual hard copies of the transcripts. What is this thing about them needing to be in a sealed, signed envelope? So bizarre. Getting antsy now that it is February. Wish I had some news!
  2. Hi all ... nice to see the board livening up! @Barista -- do you know what kinds of production opportunities are available at BC? I have been trying to figure out and have been asking around but haven't been able to get a decent response. Any info would be helpful!
  3. Absolutely. Feels good to have all of the applications in. Now the waiting truly begins ...
  4. @Princess .... Brooklyn College. If anyone knows more about the program I'd be interested to know. I've heard good things but it's difficult (at least for me) to find a lot of info other than it's run by Mac Wellman & Erin Courtney.
  5. Thanks for the information @themirandatragedy. So glad to hear you're having a positive experience at Indiana. It seems like a great program. Thought a lot about applying but ultimately have many ties in New York and hoping not to leave the general area. Mostly done -- just one more application to finalize that requires hard copies to be mailed in by 1/15. Also wishing we would start hearing back soon but we only just sent the applications in! Where did everyone choose to apply to? @lavendercloud ... Stonybrook's program seems interesting and cool. I thought about applying but (from what I could tell) a lot of the core classes required seem very geared toward teaching, which I'm not as interested in. Would have loved to apply to Iowa but again, it's super far from NY ...
  6. Also! Is there anyone currently at Indiana Bloomington (or anyone who has been a finalist/interviewed there) with more info about the program? It seems like a really interesting place with nice production opportunities ... Just haven't heard that much about it.
  7. @lavendercloud -- sorry to hear that. I was surprised when I saw how early the deadline was. Seems like a few schools have pushed theirs up ... anyone know why? I wonder if that means we'll be hearing earlier from some of them. Also, to any Yale applicants -- have you received email confirmation that your application was received? It shows online for me that it was, but I was expecting some sort of email confirming receipt ... Hope everyone had happy holidays!
  8. Okay, thanks Lavendercloud. That's good to know. I spent some time on the website but will spend some more ... Anyone with additional info ... it would be appreciated
  9. Hi All ... Wondering if anyone has more information about the following: Columbia--Any current students (or friends of current students) who are taking class with Lynn Nottage and/or David Henry Hwang? How is the program now that they are there? The New School--Obviously Christopher Shinn is there and a big deal, and I see some of the other faculty members listed on the website, but does anyone know who playwrights would likely be taking class with during the first year? Brown--Aside from Erik Ehn, who are the playwrights taking class with -- are there any other actual playwriting professors? Just finishing up some applications for this year's round and would appreciate any insight. Thanks, guys!
  10. Hi All. Hoping this forum gets rolling soon. Getting ready to apply to schools again and would love to hear from anyone currently enrolled in NYU or The New School's program about what their thoughts are. Also, Lavendercloud, I'm sure you didn't mean it that way, but I don't think it's fair to say Columbia is more of a money-making mill than an MFA program. There are lots of expensive programs out there and yes, Columbia is one of them--but this year they appointed David Henry Hwang and Lynn Nottage to the faculty, which is pretty impressive. And they do offer some scholarships, though probably not enough to cover the entire tuition. Just sayin'.
  11. Hi All. Officially waitlisted at Columbia.
  12. Has anyone heard anything from the O'Neill about pieces that have been chosen to move onto the finals? I know nothing will be announced until April but it seems from past years that finalists are contacted beforehand.
  13. Go, Wrighter, go!
  14. I don't see the link on mine but I know what's coming. Ah well!
  15. Argh. Really disappointed about Yale, but at least now we know. Thanks for reaching out NickLondon!
  16. Interesting ... dunno why but I have a sinking feeling that calls went out this weekend/today.
  17. Positive thinking is hard!
  18. Hi All. I was notified today that I have an interview at Columbia. Did anyone else hear anything? Any Yale news as of yet? I'm starting to believe all of those calls went out last week ...
  19. Cobbler, what sort of questions did they ask? I didn't apply to CMU but curious what an interview consists of for this sort of thing. Has anyone heard anything from Columbia?
  20. Hi All: Re: YALE. Reading past years it seems like the notification weeks tend to vary, so I wouldn't worry about Brown being a week earlier than it was last year. BUT--if interviews are going to be the first or second week in March, and they pay to fly people to New Haven, it makes sense that they'd want to schedule at least two weeks out. So I expect finalists would be notified this week or next. Waiting is hard.
  21. Hi All. Any action yet? I applied to: Yale, Columbia. Fingers crossed for everyone!
  22. Hi All. Just sent in my applications for 2014 -- anyone active and hanging around who is also applying?
