  1. Hi all, I was accepted into Michigan PIBS, and am currently overwhelmed by the sheer size of their departments. The PiBS is the gateway to the following programs, and in first year students may indicate to to join any of the labs for rotations: Bioinformatics Biological Chemistry Biophysics Cancer Biology Cell & Developmental Biology Cellular & Molecular Biology Human Genetics Immunology Microbiology & Immunology Molecular, Cellular & Developmental Biology Molecular & Cellular Pathology Molecular & Integrative Physiology Neuroscience Pharmacology I know that Michigan Human Genetics, Pharmacology and Bioinformatics are very strong. Just curious, how about the rest of the programs? Which one are highly ranked? I am asking because I consider applying for a training grant across department! Tks!
  2. We shall meet again after our PhDs. See who will get the last laugh. Fuck this.

  3. Hi all, I have just been accepted into JHU ECE PhD. This is my only application to ECE field this cycle (the rest of my apps I directed them to other bioinformatics programs). My interests are computational biology and systems biology, and the ECE department in JHU seems to do a good job at hosting multidisciplinary projects with BME and School of Medicine. Even my Prof is from both ECE and BME, and his research is certainly interesting. However, JHU EE is not that well-ranked... I would love to know how to make the best out of this ECE offer. Is there any way I can transfer it to BME PhD, or get some external certifications (with other biomedical research centre at JHU)? My goal after this PhD is to take a MD in a good med school (JHU included ). I would love to receive some advices from you of how to turn this PhD offer to something useful for my med school preparation later on. Tks!
  4. Hi all, May I know about the general post-interview acceptance rate at Duke and Michigan PiBS? Thanks,
  5. Anyone here applying to MIT CSB (or CSBi) ? From the result page, it seems that this department is very straightforward. Both invitations and rejections seem to be sent at the same time.
  6. Wow, I saw a Yale BBS Microbiology for an international student. I am not applying to this track, but surely Yale are reviewing international applications! I still have hopes !
  7. I meant, one wave for each home program. Oh my dream Cancer Biology
  8. Wow... it seems that Stanford will not send out just one wave!
  9. Hey excuse me for this question (and I am not applying to Baylor College). In generally, is it easier to get accepted into umbrella programs?
  10. Btw, I received an interview invitation from Michigan's Bioinformatics (FYI, I'm an international student) last week. The prof gave me two options: travel on my own expense to Michigan (but they will give special arrangements for interview date), or multiple Skype interviews. I replied her and stated the second option. Yet both the prof and her coordinator didn't get back to me. What should I do now ?
  11. Well... I am depressed to see a Stanford Cancer Biology interview... (I applied to the new track Cancer Systems Biology ). One wave only for each subdivision?
