  1. UNC is sending out notifications…
  2. NoSleep- That is a great point! The last thing I (anyone really) need to be thinking about is what I am wearing, and dressing differently than I normally would be a recipe for disaster.
  3. I am certain my style cannot be contained in a scarf, necklace, or shoes. I won't be going on the regularly scheduled weekend but during the week. Plus, I'm already in… so I am just going to dress the way I like.
  4. Congrats to those who had good news today! Hopefully a more fruitful week is to come.
  5. Thanks for the reassurance. I say the best way to dress like an adult is to find good 50%+ of clearance sale from The Limited, J Crew… etc. So, when I usually teach I dress nicely but perhaps a bit eccentrically. My husband says I look like either an elementary school teacher or used care sales person. Should I be my normal bright colored and pattern mixing self or should I tone it down? I do get complements on my (crazy) outfits on a fairly regular basis.
  6. So I am heading to Syracuse for an accepted student visit. I know, elsewhere there have been conversations about what to wear for interviews. Do the same rules apply for dressing for visits? Academic - wear what you wear to teach?
  7. Yeah, I think that is where. It said incomplete before. I emailed and asked about it a few weeks ago and they said it was complete even though the website did not reflect that.
  8. My Yale app says it was completed as of today...
  9. Cultural, no news, and no interview. Not holding out hope.
  10. Daykid and Sarab Ann Arbor is an amazing place! Congrats! One of my current profs is a recent ling. anth grad from UMich and is an amazing professor. I spent two semesters at UMich in undergrad but I hated the HUGE classes. I know the grad program is honestly as good as you hope it will be though.
  11. I think it is more that POI's email students with the results without any provocation. But that is just my interpretation.
  12. Had an interview today, that I feel went very well. I did get asked one question that I was not really expecting: What classes do you think you would benefit from in our department?
  13. University of South Carolina usually accepts only those they can fund for MA and PhD. I've been told it is normally around 10% acceptance rate.
  14. Congrats to those getting acceptances! daykid - you are going to have some difficult choices to make with all these offers! I also got some good news. Syracuse accepted me today! I am crazy excited and they offered funding too. Super happy.
  15. Thanks everyone! At this point seeing other peoples acceptances helps boost your own moral. So let's hope we all start seeing more good news! Archeaostudent - it is a pretty good program. Some of the professors are amazing teaching AND researchers! It's a really good place to do archaeology, many of the arch students have crazy interesting projects.
  16. I got some good news today! Accepted to University of South Carolina for PhD! This makes the sting of Duke's rejection a bit better.
  17. On the bright side of all the bad news for us Duke applicants is that they are incredibly consistent. My chart was dead on!
  18. I am not certain, but I had hoped not. :/
  19. My 2cents- getting an MA first in large part seems to help. I received many more encouraging email responses from POI's this round. Most of the PhD students at my current university either came in with a MA or are getting an MA first through the department (even though they are called PhD students).
  20. Duke cultural acceptance via email posted on the board... Now, I am officially giving up hope on Duke.
  21. Everyone seemed to think this week would be a big week as far as results right? I thought so too and because of this the last two days have been unbearably long. Anyone else feeling this way?
