  1. If it helps any, my GRE scores were average and I have a 3.6 GPA. However, I had original qualitative and quantitative research experience. Also, the person who called me with an acceptance let me know that the department was trying to move in the general direction of my research. I think that my writing sample, my research experience, and my research interest were more so the greatest factors than my GRE and GPA. But that was what I gathered from that one particular program.
  2. Congrats to all the acceptances!! You all rock!! Has anyone heard from any sociology programs on the Eastcoast? I'm not sure interviews are popular on this side :-(
  3. Hi everyone! I just wanted to add my background to the forum. I think it'll be nice to have some people who are going through this process too! I am an undergraduate senior double majoring in Sociology and African American Studies with a minor in Education. I am applying to Sociology programs with an interest in race and the institution of schooling in America. The schools I have applied to are: Emory Georgia State Duke UNC - Chapel Hill University of Maryland - College Park Texas A&M Princeton Ohio State I am new to the entire PhD process as I am the first person in my family to pursue higher education. I look forward to being apart of this forum though!
