  1. Just got a call from Hunter with an acceptance for spring admission.
  2. James- thanks for the info about the MICA Hoffberger alternate pool. As far as PAFA goes, I think the program has a reputation for being figurative/observational, with students who are committed to that way of working and have a very high level of technical ability.
  3. (raising my hand) Me! I felt dizzy during both my MICA and my Hunter interviews. Normally I sound like a fairly intelligent, articulate person... but my nerves take over when I get into these interview situations and I can't seem to think through the questions well enough to turn around and give a reasoned response. It's unfortunate because I don't think it's an accurate reflection on my work as an artist at all.
  4. @shebaslc: love the way your color flickers @///// /// // /: I'm geometric abstraction too and I'm drooling over your website. Where do you think you'll be in the fall?
  5. When I talked to Beverly she congratulated me on my acceptance, so it sounds like she is handling everyone individually. I hope you hear from her soon. Either way, congrats on your positive results james! It's nice that you have options.
  6. I'm talking to Beverly on the phone, but the email said it was a "conversation" not an interview. Now I'm not sure what to think. Hmmm...
  7. I just got an acceptance from Cranbrook Painting too! Super excited and jumping around my house right now. AggroCrag, are you going to go visit?
  8. Congrats kurla! I really like the painting faculty's work at Rutgers and the proximity to NYC. I'm crossing my fingers for a letter in the mail today too! How about University of Maryland? Did anyone else on here apply and receive an acceptance?
  9. Has anyone heard back from Cranbrook or Rutgers for Painting, or know what the timeline is? Also, I think people were talking about interviews at SMFA a while back... Have acceptance letters already gone out? I wasn't interviewed but I haven't heard anything back and now the financial aid office wants me to send all this paperwork which seems like a waste of time if I'm already on a rejection list.
  10. I just got a call from Hunter too for an interview at 11am the same day, March 20th (applied for painting). I was told there were 800 applicants, 110 interviews, for around 55 spots.
  11. Anybody apply to University of Buffalo, by any chance? I would like to connect with other people who were accepted to their Visual Arts program...
  12. That goes for MICA Hoffberger too... I got an interview email from them on Friday. Anybody else going to be interviewing there?
  13. michaelwebster what program did you apply to at CalArts? I applied to the painting program and I haven't heard anything yet...
  14. This is a link to a great discussion on Joanne Mattera's blog about the MFA degree and financing it ... http://joannemattera.blogspot.com/2006/05/marketing-mondays-mfa.html

Many state schools offer assistantships to most incoming students and these cover tuition and pay a stipend. A couple I know of are U of Oregon and Southern Illinois - Carbondale.
