word on the street is that fulbright funding has been cut by executive order of comrade obama, as a prelude to tonight's state of the union address.

officially stated fulbright policy is that previous applications, accepted or not, have absolutely no bearing on applications in a new year

this is going to be over the top, but in my mind, this is the march of the fulbright NSC, and also my anthem if they reject my application: YOU COULD HAVE BEEN ALL I WANTED, BUT YOU WERENT HONEST, NOW GET IN THE GROUND!!!

If I don't get recommended (like I did last year), I'm going to drink a bottle of bourbon and listen to every Tom Waits album I have (while wallowing in self-pity and despair). If I get recommended, I'm going to do the same think but with Sister Christian by Night Ranger on repeat (oh, and without the self-pity and despair). Update from my FPA: "The results from the Fulbright National Screening Committee will be available to you tomorrow (Tuesday), 28 January, at 5:00pm. At that time or soon after, you will receive an email from Fulbright informing you of your application status. Since this information will go directly to you from Fulbright, please do not contact me to inquire about your status before 5:00pm tomorrow, as I will have no information to share with you."

They do not do this. The mexico person is being dishonest. They are all sent out at the same time. I call BS.

Can anyone corroborate Islavic12's post regarding her FPA claiming that notification emails would be sent on Tues 1/28 after 5:00pm?

I would say 6:30PM EST. Last year I was informed at 5:14 PM EST on Jan. 18th that I was recommended. If there are any Spain applicants out there, last year the final round (madrid committee) was not announced until April 15th.

The announcements for the Fulbright Scholar, which is for professors who already have phds, are at a different time. its an entirely differnt program.

All PhD and ETAs are announced at the same time in the first round at the New York IIE office. I suspect this person either has a connected and loose-lipped FPA, or is full of shit.
