I was finally accepted into a program (Florida State). After starting 0/3, I am now very relieved.

That was my biggest mistake! Lol. Four rejections in a row with grad schools plus two rejections with my love life makes me want to hate February so much right now. Hehe. I'll even accept a wait list to somewhere just so that I don't feel like a failure right now T_T. BUT YOU GOT THIS!!!!! 

Fully funded at Binghamton. Can't believe I have three acceptances!  

I'm on SHIP at a UC right now, and haven't experienced any problems or major inconveniences yet!

Do you guys know what the typical dress is for these recruitment events?  I can't decide how casual/formal it's going to be!

Guys why are things moving so slow? I wanna hear back from more schools already ugh.

University of Delaware director of graduate studies called me ... they haven't made any final concrete decision but he said "I can't tell you enough how impressed we are with your application."  So they're having me out there, all expenses paid, for a weekend (along with a handful of other applicants) to meet people and discuss life at UDel, etc ... so an unofficial acceptance?!

Hey guys, I am looking into PhD programs in Sociology now, and I am a junior this year. My GRE (330+5) and GPA 3.7 will perhaps land me in the top 30 programs (right?). I am not a competitive person by nature at all, and I actually am very afriad of the cut-throat, intense atmosphere in some top programs, where everyone is trying so hard to prove himself/herself smarter than everyone else. I would much perfer a laid-back program, where there is a strong sense of community or family, and I know that I can fuction much better and happier in a friendly and supportive environment. Which programs in top 30 are more suitable for me? And which programs should I absolutely avoid? Thank you so much in advance!

yeah. I always assumed 9 month offer can be better than a 12 month, if the amount paid is the same or very close. I mean, it is possible to get extra funding for the summer with a 9 month package, while you have to sustain with what is already offered to you in the case of 12 month package. This is what I assumed though. Maybe someone can illuminate important differences between 9 month and 12 month funding.

I just got my funding offer from Davis and I can say with confidence that I will be going to grad school next year! I was unsure because they are very vague on their website and didn't include funding in the original acceptance letter but I feel very good about it now. Excited! I don't even really care if I end up getting in anywhere else at this point. Davis is such a great fit for my interests and personally for other reasons. Yay!
