  1. Turns out "soon" meant five days after the interview! Yesterday I got my acceptance email and immediately responded accepting my spot in the program! Good luck to all others applying...I am SO glad my waiting is now over!
  2. I was sitting at the train station waiting for my train home for Spring Break. I was pissed off after arguing with my dad on the phone over something stupid, and when I hung up I saw I had received an email from my first choice school saying I had been accepted! So I immediately had to recall my dad and tell him the good news...and the argument was forgotten. I am so excited and immediately replied to the email accepting my spot in the program! Funny how after days of constantly checking my email it was mid-argument that I got the good news
  3. Just got accepted for the M.A. Counseling Psychology program and have accepted my spot! I'm so excited as WSU was my #1 choice!
  4. PsycD: Thanks for the good laugh! Haha I fear I'm approaching that second with every buzz of my phone receiving an email. I have known all along that it would take weeks to get an answer...but I had no idea just how much waiting can drive you crazy! Every time I get an email I have a brief surge of adrenaline haha. I just want to know!
  5. I had an interview for a counseling psychology masters program and it went really well! A relative of mine knows the program director and asked how my interview went and they replied that they liked me a lot. This is my first choice program and I'm dying to find out if I got in or not. When I walked out of the interview the director said "You'll hear back from us soon". In your experience, what does "soon" mean? I'm guessing two weeks or so?
  6. I applied to five counseling/clinical master's programs and so far have only heard back from one. My last deadlines are February 15 and March 31. I have one interview scheduled and hope to hear from the others soon! This is so nerve wracking!
  7. Thank you for that advice! I live in Michigan and am only applying to schools in Michigan, and here I can become a psychologist (limited license) with just a masters so at least for now I'm not planning on getting a Ph.D. Can't say I'd never consider it, but I just have no interest in doing research and just want to do therapy. Of course, if the field changes drastically (i.e. prescription privileges) I would seriously consider going back sooner rather than later. But for now I want to at least work as a master's level psychologist for a while to hopefully get a jump on paying back all of my loans. Now when you say "appropriately enthusiastic", what exactly is the limit there? I know I can't exactly cartwheel into the interview room, but is it appropriate to let them know just how much I want to go there? For example, can I say something along the lines of "I've been interested in attending this program for the past 4 years" or is that even too much? I'm probably way overthinking this. Thanks for your help! Congrats on being accepted to UNC Chapel Hill
  8. I have my first interview later this month for a counseling psych masters program and I'm very nervous! It's in-person and it's my first choice school. The interview is only 15 minutes long. Any advice on how to prepare/what questions to be ready for? When I scheduled the interview via phone call they told me that they only interview applicants they are "very seriously considering" but that they also will be weeding people out after the interviews. How can I make sure that those 15 minutes will secure me a spot?
