  1. kj_robison, congrats! I spent the past couple weeks agonizing over my decision between ODU and American University. I ultimately committed to American University this week; however, ODU is a great program and the professors all seem wonderful. Best of luck!
  2. shanbethh, I received my acceptance from American University about two weeks ago (I found out by checking the website but also received an email notification the following day). I know of a classmate who received her rejection from University of Illinois at Chicago around the same time, perhaps a few days later (although I'm not sure whether it was through the website or by email).
  3. Congrats! It's definitely very exciting. I actually contacted the program to arrange a visit for next month. Part of the reason I applied to American was because the program is different. Having my Bachelor's in Legal Studies, I like the emphasis on law and justice in addition to criminology. It's also a great fit for my research interests. The only real downside to the offer is cost of living in Washington, D.C.
  4. I know that a few other members indicated that they had also applied to American University. I happened the check their website today and they had made my admission decision available. I've been admitted with funding (a tuition waiver and $20,000 a year stipend).
  5. I received a phone call earlier today letting me know that I've been admitted to Old Dominion University with full funding (tuition & fees waived and approximately $15,000 a year). I'll have to wait on several other offers but, of all the programs I looked at and discussed with faculty, it best fits my research interests so I'm definitely excited!
  6. Congrats! I received the acceptance voicemail and follow up email from USF on Wed as well . . . after spending an hour and a half out shoveling snow. Now just to worry about funding . . . hopefully it's not too long of a wait. After all this snow and cold, I just might be sold if I get funding there.
  7. After the snow storm on Wednesday, I was out shoveling the curb so that I'd have a parking space. I came back inside, after spending an hour and a half out in the cold (thanks to the idiots who steal my nicely shoveled spaces), to a voicemail saying that I had been accept at the University of South Florida. Needless to say, the program director suggesting that "Tampa is the place for" me was pretty convincing at that moment! Of course, the letter of acceptance into the doctoral program at my current school that awaited me in my mailbox almost came as a disappointment at that point! Hahaha.
